Turkish Airlines EuroLeague broadcasters meet to prepare historic 2016-17 season
Less than one month ahead of the season's opening game, Turkish Airlines EuroLeague broadcasters gathered on Thursday to learn about the many new and exciting improvements that the competition's official telecasts will bring to fans across the globe starting on October 12, including star new initiatives such as a unified running order for all Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games and a fresh, brand new graphics package, among many others.
The meeting took place at the state-of the-art IMG Studios in Stockley Park, London, and brought together all of the league's broadcast partners, official rights holders and production crew representatives.
Euroleague Basketball executives welcomed the group and highlighted some of the major new features of the coming season, including the brand new IMG/Euroleague Basketball Joint Venture and the competition's upgrade to a true European league, with a 30-round regular season in which all teams play all others, a first in the history of major team sports on the continent.
The session continued with IMG Productions executives giving attendees a detailed view of all the production enhancements and technical requirements that have been put in place with the objective of providing EuroLeague fans with an improved and consistent viewing experience from wherever they may watch games.
A unified running order for all Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games starred amongst the new initiatives, with a special emphasis on highlighting the historical rivalries between the 16 most important teams on the continent while putting players and coaches in the spotlight. Additionally, 15-minute pre- and post-game shows, with up-to-the-minute insights into the progress of the competition, will be delivered to all broadcasters.
The new production standards will also bring a record-breaking of minimum 11 cameras into every arena, there to provide spectators with the best game action from every angle.
The presentation of the game will also be boosted by a fresh graphics package that, together with the new design of the main stage, the playing court, will match the recently upgraded EuroLeague brand identity.
Also presented at the meeting were some major technological improvements, such as new processes to deliver high-quality, real-time unified statistics (or) and the eight-camera instant replay system that will be available to all game officials.
