Try picking someone who actually had expectations set for him, and not just someone who won because everyone else was crap (like MCW)

I'd say from recent ones it's tyreke evans.

20 5 and 5.

I'd imagine people believed he'd be an MVP caliber player by now.

Also maybe Emeka Okafor. Though honestly I didn't watch much of him and mostly just heard that the guy's peak was his rookie year.

Michael Carter-Williams may also end up on the list.

No one thought Tyeke Evans would be an MVP type player.

I did, he was a beast his rookie season. 20/5/5 ain't nothing to scoff at.

I was ready to become a Tyreke stan. Too bad the league caught up on how to guard him and he never adjusted. Harden left this guy now.

Besides LeBron I will say it's MCW.

Tyreke. Easily.

Guy joined an ultra exclusive rookie 20-5-5 club. Names a top the list like the two greatest players ever. Jordan and LeBron.

He was like an even bigger Chauncey Billups with even better handle. Just strong as a bull. Teams just figured to sag and let him shoot that hideous awkward jumper.

And that was all she wrote along with injury woes. MCW will join the club for sure. But nothing as disappointing as Tyreke.

I hadn't exactly been sold by his ROY accolade in a bad seed of rookies, but Mike Miller is the worst in my recent memory. Worse than Tyreke, although less hyped as well.

OP means by how they fell off after receiving ROTY.

Yeah. After their ROY year.

It's definitely not Evans, he has averaged 16/5/5 for his career. Would be solid rotation player on any team.

IMO its Ernie DiGregorio.
3rd pick, won Roy after averaging 15 ppg and leading NBA in assists and FT%. He then fell right off for 3 seasons, before hurting his knee and retiring.

Yeah. After their ROY year.

I don't see Evans having really fallen off. He just never took off, but statistically, he remains a valuable player.
How about Damon Stoudamire, just among recently retired players? Went from promising ROY to average starter in a few years.

Moving towards older ones:

Ralph Sampson
Phil Ford
Ernie DiGregorio
Terry Dischinger (most obscure great rookie season ever)
Ray Felix
Monk Meineke

I don't know how you guys are so down on Tyreke, he may not have improved much after his rookie year, but he is still a solid starter in the league... hard to complain about that.

MCW on the other hand went from ROY to being traded for peanuts, to not even starting anymore and his outlook doesn't look very favorable. On any other team his sloppy handle, bad shot selection and horrible defense wouldn't even have gotten him enough minutes to be ROY.

Tyreke - people were saying he'll be a top 5 player in 3 years

Brandon Roy - not his fault

Blake Griffin kinda - beast rookie season but stayed stagnant pretty much throughout his career

no MCW for me - despite the good rookie season, not one expected him to reach superstar level

Funny before I even entered the thread Tyreke's name came to me.

I sure as hell did...he had an amazing rookie year.

Evans and MCW, everyone else had a good career except for Brandon Roy...but it's not because he's a bust.

I'm only looking at recent ROTY.
