Break out your umbrellas because they aren't sure where all the pieces are going to land. Apparently the heavier pieces, like the rocket engines, might not burn up in the atmosphere and reach earth.

After months of speculation, China has finally confirmed their first space station is heading for Earth and officials don't know where it is going to land.

In a press conference last week, a senior official with the Chinese space program said the country's first space station, Tiangong-1, which means "Heavenly Palace," is expected to fall into the Earth's atmosphere in the second half of 2017.

While officials said most of the space lab will burn up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, the location of where its remnants will land, and whether the country will have the ability to steer the space lab is unclear.

Just send Bruce Willis into space to take it down. Easy as pie.

I think the article says China will not have ability to control reentry. Normally space stations are aimed at the ocean where debris can cause little harm. Most satellites do not require controlled reentry because of their size, they just burn up into the atmosphere. China's space station is small, but bigger than a satellite, so it is potentially hazardous to people on the ground.

The Chinese space station is tiny. There's a bunch pf unmanned satellites out there that are bigger which are also going to burn up in the atmosphere completely uncontrolled.

The one time the USA had a space station it remnants actually did crash near a city, but that thing was 10x the size of this Chinese one. This is just fear mongering and propaganda.
