anyone do it ????

I have never done it , but would like to travel to Florida Keys for some Bone fishing....

How long does it take to get the hang of it ? hours , days, weeks ??

I know its classic style fishing , just wondering how difficult it is.

Damn Jasper we are starting to have lots of things incommon!

I have been fly fishing as long as i can remember, ask away anything! Bone Fishing huh, do it!! Always wanted to try it! Its awesome fun, you will need a heavy rod (#8+) as bone fish fight like hell, as its in the coasts you will have lots of room to learn casting, you can practice there or on a park/your yard (as long there is space) somewhere (without a fly tied) , watch casting videos on youtube (you can learn easily without an instructor/guide/flyfisher friend, if i was nearby i would gladly venture out with you!).... the 2 main casting techniques you will need to learn is the Over/Underhand(aka. Spey Cast) and the Double Haul (for casting max distance & will be the only casting you will be doing on the coast).... Fly Fishing is an artform, its much more than just fishing, you will get a hang of it and you will be addicted for life!

You will eventually go out fly fishing just to CAST, its that much fun trying to master it and when you do.. and when you catch your first fish (especially seeing one rise up to snatch your dry fly), oh my, you will be refusing to go home.... you will be haunted by waters... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzxyjOLZ2lo

Fly Fishing is one of the main reasons im in montenegro now for, brook-marble trout & grayling on the Tara River (Canyon) & Moraca, even a chance to catch the almighty danube salmon (hucho hucho), relatives live 15 km near this very spot here so i packed my #5 weight rod and actually took that road bike you saw in the other thread there. :D

Like i said, Montenegro is nuts! The water is gin clear & clean (you can literally drink it, its all source flows directly from the mountains afterall!) & cooking with trout and its very secluded (have yet to see a fisherman), its made for fly fishing and there are no fly fishers around, its all you alone & in perfect harmony, cleanses any other thoughts (work related stress?) right outta you! Even though its nice with that crystal clear water it makes it very hard catching one, it can see you approaching from far away and scatter, fishing them with Nymphs right now although some hatches are still ongoing around here giving opportunity for dry fly fishing (the most fun type of fly fishing!).... its all catch & release with tiny barbless hooks, its about the nature, the challenge, the art, the sport, not food... :)
