New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis grew another inch over the summer. The 23-year-old shared the news on the Black & Blue Report podcast. But the funny thing is after he said it, he tried to take it back.

“They measured us like a week and a half ago and they said I was 6-11, which I don’t want to be. I think 6-10’s like the perfect height for me. It just doesn’t sound right. 6-10 sounds perfect to me. 6-11, 7 feet, I can’t, I don’t like it.”

Davis continued:

“I’m now 6-10. I’m technically 6-11, but I’m 6-10. I will always tell everybody 6-10. I don’t care if I’m 7-3, I’m 6-10 … Maybe it’s the hair. I don’t know. I have great hair.”

He measured in at 6-9 1/4 without shoes and 6-10 1/2 with shoes at the NBA Combine in 2012. Last season, when he averaged 24.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, he was listed at 6-foot-10. An extra inch can’t hurt him.

If he does continue to lie about his height as he grows, he isn’t the only player to do so. Durant told the Wall Street Journal:

“For me, when I’m talking to women, I’m 7 feet,” he said. “In basketball circles, I’m 6-9.”

He also bulks up to 250 pounds, and now an inch taller.

Alot of these slender big guys are sensitive about their height cause they don't wanna play Center. KG was the same way and tried to deny 6'11 for so long.

He grew a full inch at 23 years old? Yeah, not sure I'm buying that.

He's a lot bigger. I honestly think Davis just worked on his strength and body for the past year. Was he REALLY injured? He is like 250lbs now.

Well, TBH I grew about 0.7 inch last year being 23. It is possible.

I was listening to the Dan Patrick Show yesterday and height was brought up.

Dan said that Bill Walton always made sure his height was listed at 6'11 cause he said that people looked at 7 footers as being "freaks" and didn't want to be classified as one

Some say Bill's real height was closer to 7'2

Happened to me in my mid-20s, two inches. It's rare but happens.

I swear I read this exact report last year, about him growing an inch and bulking up to 250. With the Durant quote and everything.

I'm more interested if he increased any of his freakish wingspan.

It's rare but it happens. I think DRob also had a late growth spurt in his early 20's.

You know what every top big man had coming in the league?

A mentor that once was a really good player or consistent PG leadership

Duncan had D. Rob and Avery Johnson
KG had Sam Mitchell and Kevin Mchale to learn from.
Jermaine O Neal had Rasheed Wallace.
Dirk had Nash and Avery Johnson

That's why I feel KAT is going to leapfrog Davis. Mentoring is huge and there was a time teams had solid veterans to push younger talented players.

Men can continue growing until you're 25-26 years old. It doesn't happen alot but it can happen.

His height isn't the problem, it's his health. I'm not sure getting taller and heavier is going to help him stay healthy, but we'll see.

He's a soft c*nt.

Tends to get injured, dunno if its because he's unco or something.

I kinda get the hype, but i've always thought he was that tad bit overrated aye

He's very good, but he's spoken about like there's no doubt he's gonna be a superstar that carries the Pels to multiple rings, and I just dunno about that

Could see him pulling a KD one day

KG always said he was 6'13" when asked about his height in Minnesota...Some guys just don't want to be a 7 footer.

AD is the Andrew Luck of the NBA, a generational talent being wasted away.
