i thought bowie's version of "across the universe" was light years beyond anyone else's attempt... a lot of that because he rendered it so thoroughly bowie-esque instead of getting caught up too much in the beatles.

i seem to recall seeing buckwheat once back in philly, on penn's landing during a hot summer festival. perfect outdoor music to put everyone in a happy, lively but not over-the-top mood.

they have shows around here on a regular basis during summer, but none of the locals seem up to trying zydeco. if only they let me use a karaoke machine i'd vow to slay em with some spicy jambalaya. :rockon:
