You guys do know that China produces one of the best steels in the world right? No surprise if he bought from China.
Japan, Germany and China are one of the greatest steel makers in the world. They have been using steel long before America existed.
I do think Americans need to step up their steel making game.

Pretty much. For HRC its not just about winning, its more about burying The Donald at this point.

are you sure about that?
i don't know about their steel specifically, but chinese building materials have led to a number of disasters and collapses both in their country and the USA.
last one i remember in the states is american contractors using cut-rate chinese wallboard in a number of homes they built in florida. the wallboard wound up leaking some kind of toxic substance, rendering the homes health hazards. the unfortunate homeowners couldn't even sue because of some loophole stating that contractors are only responsible for the integrity of american materials or some such.

made in china steel bars are absolutely dreadful. just last week we performed tension test of steel bars as part of our laboratory subject and the results proved very disappointing. the steel bars showed almost no necking characteristic of brittle materials. remember the steel is supposed to add flexural and tensile strength of reinforced concrete.

Observe the right hand portion. You can clearly see almost no necking upon fracture.

I don't think that any Trump supporter would suggest that Trump is perfect or has made some stupid remarks/errors.
I won't speak for others, but I support him because of the necessary crackdown on unfiltered immigration and the rising risks of terrorism in all countries.
I support him for wanting change to the usual government establishment candidates, a shakeup to the highly corrupted government as it stands.
He may not follow through with many of his promises, but if he followed through with a few of them, I would think that would be a huge upgrade over Hillary who I think is on the books for the saudis and other donors.

> I don't think that any Trump supporter would suggest that Trump is perfect or has made some stupid remarks/errors.
"perfection" isn't the issue. a big part of the problem is that every other statement of his is random / crazy like that.
not even calculated / polished lies like you get with other politicians. just random shit designed to make him sound authoritative for a brief moment, and then an embarrassment for others to try to clean up afterwards.
that's pretty much his age-old business strategy, in fact. he always moves on when things become difficult. not a real good look for those hoping for him to follow through on a promise.

I cringe at what he says sometimes, I even get fustrated when he blabbers on about the same damn thing over and over. Trust me, I'm human like you, I also see the same flaws as you do.
But here is where I draw the line. There is enough information out there for me to believe who would be worse for America and what effect it has on my country.
The smear campaign on trump is used primarily to distract the attention away from Hillary. Sure, he has his own skeletons, but there is a human under there. Hillary is just one calculated, cold hearted w.tch and I don't say that about many people.
An then there is conjecture. I have opinions based on what I've seen from Hillary and what I believe she might do. Opinions after all is what we are left with when it comes to voting. What you believe a candidate would do for you.

Thanks to people like Trump, the industry is dying
http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/23/opinions/american-steel-industry-gibson-schmitt/
Steel supports hundreds of thousands of American jobs. But because of these unfairly traded imports, many American steel producers have had to make difficult decisions affecting steelmaking communities. Steel companies have closed down major facilities, or reduced production at those plants, resulting in devastating layoffs and job losses for many families who have made steel for generations. More than 12,000 steel jobs have been lost in the past year, as imports took a record 29% of the U.S. market.

We did once but not as good as China, Japan and Germany. Steel companies do exist here.
Take a company like Rolex, who makes one of the best steels in the world. You're not going to choose a crap generic watch over something of quality.
Look at surgical tools. All made in Germany. Quality.
It's not that Trump buys outside the US. It's that we suck.
If someone chooses a Porsche over Ford, you cannot accuse them of trying to put Ford out of business. The Porsche is just that much better.

It's quite easy actually.
You want a nice silk shirt? Buy one from Italy or China.
Want a nice watch? Swiss.
..but everyone wants to sit here and talk about how Trump is ditching US steel when we suck at making steel.

It could be more economical for him to buy steel in China and if that's the case, why is that disparaged?
Of course, those companies could be just selling it at a price way below market price due to an oversupply and that should be investigated but if not, I don't see the legitimate criticism.

Because he's a hypocrite who's complaining about companies manufacturing overseas while he's doing the EXACT SAME THING

He builds some of the more lavish buildings in the world and it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted better raw materials.

Ok, so what if he chose to buy here, lost money and became uncompetitive because of it?
You can still play the game and complain about it.

At the debate, Trump declared China's cheap steel was "killing our steel workers and our steel companies," to which Clinton shot back: "China is illegally dumping steel in the United States and Donald Trump is buying it to build his buildings, putting American steel workers and plants out of business."
"I do have some advice for Donald," Clinton said on Monday. "He wants to make America great again. Start by buying American steel for his construction projects."

BTW, United Steelworkers has called for an investigation into Drumpf's illegal purchase/use of Chinese steel. (https://www.wortfm.org/united-steelworkers-want-investigation-of-trumps-use-of-chinese-steel-10-11-16/)

"He especially likes to talk about how he supports American steelworkers. He even had the nerve to brag about how — this is a quote — American steel will send new skyscrapers soaring — and all the while, he was hiding the truth… the fact that he chose to support Chinese workers, not American workers," she charged.
"You in Michigan, like a lot of places in our country, know that China has been… dumping cheap steel into our market for too long," she continued. "And you've seen the consequences up close because when China illegally floods our markets with cheap steel, and people like Donald Trump buy it, then it kills good jobs."
"How does Trump look at these workers in the eye, how does he brag about big tall buildings when he is putting American workers out of work, and he is shutting down steel mills," she added. "He needs to try to explain that, I think. And like everything else, it's not likely he will. He'll go on saying the same factually untrue things."
