[I] Authorities say two of three officers wounded in a shooting in Palm Springs have died, Palm Springs Chief of Police Bryan Reyes said.

The incident was unfolding in the area of Cypress and De Lago roads. A manhunt is underway for the alleged shooter, according to police.

The officers who lost their lives are Jose Gilbert Vega, a 35-year veteran who was set to retire in December and Lesley Zerebny, a 27-year-old new mother, Reyes said. Zerebny just came back to work after giving birth four months ago.

I went to Palm Springs last winter and the entire town feels very small.

Had tons of fun but it feels empty and strange at night. After 9pm you feel like you're in the zombie apocalypse since all you see on the streets are a few spare sick, homeless people dragging themselves around.

Great place to live if you're gay (populated, clean, gay area). Not a lot of women sans skanks. Definitely a place of haves and have-nots, and the richer crowd keeps to themselves/houses.
