[quote](CNN)House Speaker Paul Ryan told fellow Republicans Monday he will no longer defend GOP nominee Donald Trump and will instead use the next 29 days to focus on preserving his party's hold on Congress.

"The speaker is going to spend the next month focused entirely on protecting our congressional majorities," Ryan's spokeswoman, AshLee Strong, said in a statement.

In a conference call with members Monday morning, Ryan told members "you all need to do what's best for you and your district," according to someone who listened to the meeting.

"He will spend his entire energy making sure that Hillary Clinton does not get a blank check with a Democrat-controlled Congress," said the person on the call

It has little to do with his thoughts on Donald as much as it is the mountain climbing and making the next 4 years really hard on Hillary and having a mulligan on this election.

You also told me two months ago that Trump was going to back out and didn't want to run anymore. You also promised the Republicans would deliver a second candidate to sabotage Trump.

'Member when Clinton tried to compare herself to Abraham Lincoln when she got confronted on her lies and her "public and private policy"?

Rino is done.

Why do politicians today keep running for President when they were legitimately turned down. For example, Hillary was turned down in '08 and now she's the candidate? :lol

Rino now wants to run when people turned him down in the last election and somehow he thinks people will change their mind.
