Honest discussion here. Please leave the shookening bullshit out of here. What are all of your opinions on what we need to do to our tax code? Why do you think that would work or why wouldn't it?

I'm personally all for a consumption tax. You pay your fair share for what goods/services you purchase. However i don't ever see this happening. The IRS and accountants of the world would never allow it to happen...too powerful.

I don't think we should increase taxes any more than we have today. In fact, I think we should lower them, but close a lot of the bs loopholes...starting with writing off political contributions. I'm sure there are some studies that show this would and wouldn't benefit us (will post when I have more time) but I'd like to get a reason able - non childish - conversation going. Too much stupid shit and dj Khaled to read through on here.

What are your thoughts, ishers?

Consumption tax. Period. Everyone pays their fair share. Easy peazy.

Get rid of the monstrosity of the IRS, save us from having to pay 110,000 salaries.

Of course, we can't do ^that^ because that's bad politics.

110,000 salaries, but you didn't factor in 700,000 other people who currently have jobs to help people with taxes. That's how inefficient our tax system is. And while politicians like to say "We created x number of jobs" they really subtracted 810,000 jobs that could actually help people
