Not very. It's improbable that the Pistons trade for Rasheed if they'd drafted Melo. Thus they never would have won a title.
Same shit, different path.

why would it be inmprobable...melo would probably be off the bench behind prince and the pistion would still make that deal

Well if that's true then Larry Brown was shitting all over Melo's confidence and he's out of the league.

Right, because every rookie that doesn't start right off the bat doesn't make it due to confidence problems.

Why is it improbable to trade for Rasheed? They don't play the same position.

Melo will have a ring, and Piston "might" be able to beat the Spurs in 05 finals due to Milo's effort.

They had a dominant bench at the time. As a rookie, Melo would've created a weird Simmons/Saric redundancy off the bench with Corliss Williamson (as weird as that feels to say now).
If you consider the state of the Pistons at the time, and the way the league was (dominated by Duncan and Shaq), it was inevitable they'd want a high-risk, high-reward big man with that pick (if they couldn't get James, that is. Do you remember how the Pistons got the #2 pick? It was Memphis's, back when Jerry West was at the helm. If it had been #1 instead of #2 it would have gone to Memphis. Gasol + Lebron + Jerry West. Dynasty.)
