Well, for starters, 2015 Steph Curry.

Nobody, and don't try acting like you saw it coming, but nobody saw him becoming an MVP like that. Maybe finish 2nd or 3rd in a peak season, but I don't think anyone saw that coming.

Another surprising MVP I'd imagine was Derrick Rose.
And without the bulls winning 60 games he probably doesn't win it.

Kevin Durant 2014, The Lebron James run (4 in 5 years) were all expected to some extent I'd imagine. Kobe Bryant was long overdue in the eyes of many I suppose, and before that Dirk and Nash might've been surprise though I wasn't following the NBA I can't testify for that, or the era before that.

SO.
Who was your most unexpected MVP? Either in recent time or 90s and before for the oldies on ISH.

And finally, who do you see as the -next- surprise MVP?
Hint: KAT is not a surprise.

Mine is whatever Star emerges from the Lakers/Philly shitstorm in the next 5-6 years. (Either there by Trade, or one of their young guys.)

No one expected Nash in 2005, Rose in 2011, and Curry in 2015. Basically any PG. No one expected Chris Paul in 2008 either as a strong, legitimate MVP candidate.

He's not up there with the likes of Nash/Rose/Curry, but I don't know if people ever really thought Iverson would win MVP, especially over the likes of Shaq/Duncan/KG

I dont want to sound like an asshole but before 14/15 when they hired Kerr, I really did think Curry and GSW would take a huge leap forward be be legit MVP/NBA Champion contenders.
