Pop is the best coach in the league
Kawhi is the best perimeter defender in a decade
Great teams still lose
It was one game
Once again ISH proves itself to be extremely shortsighted.
Remember the first 20 games of LeBron-Wade-Bosh? They essentially played .500 basketball. Chemistry takes some time.

Agreed. Though I cant say the same thing about the Heat comparison.
For one, James and Bosh joined Wade THEN Miami built the system. While KD joined an established system where players have clear roles before he joined and its just a matter of him understanding and commiting to it. Also he had the chance to build chemistry with his fellow GSW starters during their Team USA stint even before the season/preseason started.

to be fair, KD and Warriors were looking damn good and comfortable in the preseason (yes it's just preseason but still) ... surely it's a quick wakeup call for the new look Warriors. If anything it'll help them

Durant isn't the only new face. That roster saw a great deal of turnover from last season. Zaza, KD, McCaw, West... are all finding their place on this team.

I don't think Pop being the best head coach is an overreaction. He's been one of, if not the best coach in the league for quite some time.

I think you misunderstand, or maybe i am. OP was saying Pop is the best coach in the league and Kawhi is that special of a defensive talent. Laying it out that this was no gimmie game for the Warriors.

Spurs looked practically unrecognizable too though... Gasol, Lee, Bertans, Dedmon... Simmons and Anderson still green ... Lots of teams have new faces ... It will take time for the Warriors surely, but damn do they look small collectively and not the deepest of their last 3-4 seasons

Oh, definitely. I'm not discounting the Spurs at all. My post was in reference to the guy who wrote that Miami faced a unique challenge while GS had everything established for KD to slide right in and make a smooth transition. That's not entirely accurate.

I think a lot of people share this opinion, but the Warriors were never going to hit 73+ wins this season.
You can only be so efficient on offense. You reach a point where more offensive firepower only gives you diminishing returns. Last season the Warriors were one of the most efficient teams on offense EVER.
Having Durant does two things:
1. Increases the Warrior's floor. One of Curry/Klay/Durant goes down with an injury, you still are going to have a stud offense
2. Increases their marketability. $$$

Yes, but aside from KD, these are role players. GSW hired them and gave them their clear roles on the system. GSW already HAD their system in place, they just hired guys who will easily fit their requirements.
Compared to the Heat who have to overhaul everything just to accomodate 2 superstars(in my book Bosh belongs to that category during his Raptor days.). And James also had this controversy with Coach Spo during their early days, which this GSW team will never experience I believe.

Same with Knicks yet people go ballistic:confusedshrug:
It's an overreaction to freak out and write them off as favored contenders, !74 it does expose some problems. Mainly a lack of depth and defense.
Spurs look great but it took a lot to get that blowout. Kawhi, Simmons, and LMA all went off, and a bunch of others played well too.

the overreaction comes from the hype

Overreaction will go both ways, as it always does.
Looking at their schedule, after the upcoming Blazers and Thunder games, I could easily see them rattling off a 10-15 game win streak or something
People will rant and rave about them after they win alot

Of course there are adjustments that need to be made, but it is not really comparable to how much Miami started over.
