He's worked real hard and seems to be 1,000% focused on basketball and nothing else. I expect him to really dominate and cement himself as a top 7 overall player based off the work he put in and his words.

I like Lillard, but the separation defensively is too big for him to overtake Paul unless CP3 had a large and noticeable fall offensively. Being that he's pretty much the epitome of consistency at the PG position, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Great first half.

Blake has kept his word, 16/6 with good defensive intensity. Missed a couple of baby bunnies though. No turnovers is the best part.

Chris is struggling a bit though you can't tell by looking at the box score as he has 12/4/3 with a steal and no turnovers.

JJ, Jordan and Prince Luc are doing their jobs, though JJ needs to hold on the rock.

Finally we have a bench though, Mo Speezy with 11 and JCraw with 7. I prefer Craw to attack more often. Austin has been really nice off the bench, as has Raymond Felton.

Going to need to keep crashing the boards and holding on to our possessions and the game should be pretty coasted. Luc has been doing a good job on Dame, but prefer Paul on him with Austin/Wes/Felton in at the three.

I don't get it either...the guy takes the dumbest shots in existence. When they are going in he looks fantastic...the problem is they usually don't go in and he can shoot you out of a game.

Was a solid way to start the year, but the Clips need to keep up crashing the boards and not take the foot off the pedal in the fourth, hold back on stupid fouls too. Box-Score wise:

Blake was superb 27/13/2 with 3 steals/1 block and only 1 turnover. 9-22 from the field needs to be improved upon but I'll take 8-9 from the line.

Paul was awesome, yet again. 27/5/5 and only 1 turnover as well, three treys, 9-19 overall. Looked to score more than pass and this is the way Paul needs to play in the post season.

JJ couldn't buy a bucket tonight, and Jordan did what Jordan does, with 12 boards in 28 minutes.

Speights started out on fire, but then cooled off, still ended up with 15. He needs to get more than 2 rebounds though. Jamal was Jamal, bad shots, taking 12 to score 15.

Felton was solid, and Wes needs more playing time.

Austin only put up 8/4/1 but dude was high intensity, loved it.

Holding Lillard to 11-24 with 5 turnovers was also a good sign but can't give up major points to scrubs like Mo Harkless.

Normally we disagree on these forums, but I agree with your analysis.

Although I do agree the Clippers deserved to win, it wasn't an easy one. Portland put up a great fight and I think Lillard had an off night (we dodged a bullet).

Also, the flagrant fouls (as a Clipper fan) were really bad. They had me saying "really? THAT'S a flagrant?"

Also I agree on the Lauren Holtkamp reffing, it was terrible. Especially in the start of the game with Chris Paul and stuff. It was funny how after the call, the camera panned on her like "it's her fault this call is so bad".

As much of a Clippers fan I am, I want a fairly reffed game and I want to win in a fair way. Either way, I think Portland is going to be pretty good this year if they show this much hustle and fight.

Clippers finally have assembled a fine bench with the additions of Marreese Speights, Raymond Felton, Brandon Bass and Alan Anderson. All four are solid vets, three of which have had deep runs into the playoffs with Speights being a recent member of the Warriors, also on the Grizzlies squads that the Clippers had chippy play with. Speights and Jamal Crawford led the Clippers second unit with 15 points a piece, while Jamal also chipped in with 4 steals. Speights led the Clippers with a +20.
