Outside of LeBron he may be the most well rounded player in the league. Does literally everything on offense and a DPOY candidate. Top 20? Top 15? Top 10?

I say at minimum top 15. You have to remember, he was 6th in DPOY voting, put up 17, 9, 3, 2, 2. There's no way you can name 25 players better than Millsap

Griffin and Aldridge? Does defense not exist in your world? He's easily better than Klay and you can argue Irving.

Griffin and LMA are significantly better offensive player. Enough to offset any defensive shortcomings.
There's not a single team in the league that would take Millsap over Klay/Irving.

How are they significantly better offensive players? Alridge averaged 18 ppg last year and is much less a player maker while Blake had 21ppg 5 apg. Millsap had 17 ppg and 3 apg. He was also all 2nd defensive team where those two are considered liabilities on that end. The gap on defense is INFINITELY larger.

LMA is not a significantly better offensive player than Millsap...he's been one of the most overrated scorers in the league for years. I'd take Millsap and his much, much better defense over LMA.

None of these players have a case. I doubt you can formulate one no matter how hard you try.

It's because he's playing in the Spurs' system. The year before that, he put up 23/10. Also, Blake put up 21/8/5. Again, they're much better than Millsap offensively. Millsap never even came close to averaging 20 points a game. The most he ever averaged was 18 PPG and he has a career average of 14 PPG.

the case is easy.. Paul Millsap has been a 17 ppg player on 51 TS, 100 ORTG in the playoffs with the Hawks.. his offense, by every metric is very poor, and its a very good sample size.
millsap has also been routinely abused by bigger players in slow down physical playoff environment. He doesnt do the most important thing a big man can do defensively.. protect the rim. His teammate dwight should change that for the hawks and make them not total pushovers in the PO's this year though.

True.
Millsap basically hit his peak in the Spurs system in Atlanta. You can count on 1 hand how many 30 point scorers we had in the past year, maybe even two. The gap is defense is MASSIVE compared to the gap on offense. Its not even close. Offensively its close and Millsap is a better offensive player than Aldridge.

You didn't make a case for any of those players lol. Millsap made the all 2nd defensive team and literally carried our offense the entire past season. Most those guys you listed don't do anywhere near what Millsap did for the Hawks all around.

theres too many guys to type out cases for all of them.. millsap is great during the regular season, but i put a heavier weight on playoffs. Like you scoff at Wade not being better now.. maybe because hes older ..? but dwayne was way better in the playoffs than millsap was just last year. and i would trust him in a series much more.

This thread confirms how casual this site is. On the surface it seems like a basketball discussion site but its mostly for the casual fans. If he made more drake references and did more dances he'd have more respect. Unfortunately play only can't get the respect of the casuals.

Sigh. I'll try again. In Millsap's best scoring season he scored 17.9 PPG. That's like 2 fewer points than LMA's career average.

LMA averaged 18 a game playing on the Spurs' system. Still a number Millsap has never touched in his career.

I think Millsap is a really good piece to have, but I'd maybe say he's top 20 at best. He's probably one of the 10 best "all around" players in the game, but I also judge that against maximum ceiling with him as one of your best players -- aka, can he win you a playoff game or two? What about his offensive game can't be neutralized? Which of the best Power Forwards is he going to outplay? In my opinion, he'll get outplayed by Blake Griffin, Anthony Davis, LMA and possibly KAT. I do think he's better than Draymond Green, though. He did have a 40 point playoff game that year, so that was dope.

actually pretty sure about top 20. Not top 15 however.
Lebron
Paul George
Curry
KD
Kawhi
Paul
Griffin
Westbrook
Harden
Davis
Cousins
are pretty much inarguable. then you have guys like
Draymond
Klay
Aldridge
Kyrie
Lillard
Lowry
who have strong cases over him.
