Saying that this is our year nearly every year and propping up our players etc.

No fanbase in the nba is more loyal than us.
Its lakers first then whoever has a chance against lebron 2nd

Like half the ISH Laker fanbase has been bandwagoning the Warriors. Dude named "LakersforLife" was literally rocking a Golden State avy using "we" and "us" in Warrior threads for months.

Appreciate your loyalty.
But with all due respect,
It's not hard to be loyal to a team that has had a Top 15 player for the last 20 years, had 5 championships in the last two decades, been to two more finals and had guys like Shaq, Kobe, Pau, Magic, Kareem and what not in their team.
The last three years have been the greatest test for real laker fans.
And I think too many of you became Warriors fans over that time. Or OKC Fans. Or Spurs Fans. I don't know.
I respect and appreciate Lebron, and Kobe. But I'm a Timberwolves fan.
And god I hope we get that playoff spot. Go Wolves.

Hey now! I lived through the Cedric Ceballos/Sedale Threatt/Elden Campbell years. That was following the magical 80's with Magic and crew. These last few years have been down, but I never had that lost feeling like those years even when we had a much worse team.

Same boat as you man, I remember sedale threatt nailing those js from his spot playing two man game with divac. Loved when nick van exel got drafted and made the games exciting, things got even better when Eddie Jones got drafted.
Like op says, real laker fans are about Lakers, all day, every day. Sure we have a lot of bandwagon fans and have to endure them when times are good, look at all the fans that come out of the woodwork for good teams, but never see them in bad times.
Lakers!

You seem like a nice poster, but you can't contradict yourself in your own thread and then justify it. Loyalty is not cheering for another team when your team is trash. Especially when the team you bandwagon on is the best team in the league.
Would you see NY jumping on Brooklyn? Miami jumping on Orlando? Dallas jumping on San Antonio? Sorry but your "inb4" doesn't nullify that point. It only accentuates it

Honestly, how can any Lakers fans be called resilient when they have had less hardships to endure than most fanbases? It takes adversity to test how perseverant one's fanhood is, which has been minimal for the fabled franchise compared to most.
Having missed the playoffs only 8 times in franchise history and hoisting the second-most championship banners out of any NBA team--and oftentimes being one All-Star acquisition or coaching changeover away from tipping the scales in the also-ran years of those playoffs appearances--what do most Lakers fans know about adversity to begin with? They go to the lottery for three-consecutive seasons, and many of their fans consider it an earth-shattering blemish in the franchise's history; if that's considered the brunt of adversity for this team, most other fanbases would take that everyday of the week and twice on Sunday, because many would be thankful just to be a perennial playoffs-contender.
Fact is that the Lakers fanbase is easily one of the most spoiled ones in the league; that doesn't correlate strongly to loyalty when the fans haven't learned to endure the doldrums that other franchises have had with greater regularity. You see their impatience manifest in the form of unrealistic expectations, myopic demands to mortgage our young talent for more "instant-impact" players instead of letting them develop, and so forth--all of which shows that they aren't nearly as accustomed to rebuilding processes as other teams and thus have precarious loyalty.
Not to generalize all Lakers fans, of course; there are anomalies to every demographic and psychographic, and these down years will help to better contrast those of us who are willing to stick through it thick-and-thin. But there is no glossing over the fact that this has actually been one of the most fickle-minded fanbases--which is simply inevitable with any high-market, historically accomplished team, and it shouldn't be a knock on you if you are truly loyal.
Yes, we're delusional about our team because we've had greatness for so many years we can't handle being a trash team.
You need to understand that it's not our fault our team has been soooo great for soooo many years that we basically grew up like this. We need something to cheer for and hope for as we're rebuilding so many of us adopted the GSW and Curry. Why? Because they're in the same state, fun to watch, and being Laker fans we're also Kobe fans. Kobe fans hate Lebron fans and vice versa, this makes the Warriors pretty much the perfect team to root for as we're rebuilding.
So again, before you hate more on delusional Laker fans, think of what we're enduring. I beg of you, it's really not our fault that our childhood was instilled with such greatness that we can't cope with a lottery team.

That's something that pisses me off, you guys single out the 3-4 trolls who call themselves Lakers fans and accuse all of us of being bandwaggoners. When most of the guys I mentioned were here last season in game threads when we were ****ing ass, still rooting for our team and hyped.
I enjoyed watching other teams last season, of course. I enjoy watching basketball...I didn't claim to be a fan of any other team other than Lakers.

Every set of fans has rotten apples.
On this site alone:
San Antonio has obnoxious fans (there's like 5-6 of em, especially dude with GSW L avy) who swore they were winning the chip last season, laughing all smug when someone thought otherwise. Gone after 6 in the 2nd round.
Cleveland/Miami fans whom you can hardly keep track of who's for who. Lookin at you, lebron23.
Don't get me started on the Lebron/Kobe/Jordan only fans who blow one and crucify the others.
The Celtics fans who's job is to troll Lakers fans, literally talk more about the Lakers than their own team. Airboner and others like him.
I didn't even mention New York or Toronto fans, you could go on and on.

I didn't know I was expected to be delusional about the team's prospects to be considered a true fan of the team.
Personally, my credibility means more to me than acting like I really believe they are going to do well when my eyes tell me otherwise. It's hard to take someone seriously when they are constantly making unrealistic predictions just to act supportive. In my mind, either they don't know squat about NBA basketball, or they are lying through their teeth. Either way, it's a waste of time trying to have a conversation with that type of person. Circle-jerks just aren't my get-down.
That said, I don't think the Lakers have the deluded fan market cornered on ISH by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm in SoCal. I agree most are pretty loyal. However, Laker fans don't have it close to the worst(have it better than like 25 fanbases in the league). Also there are definitely quite a few people walking around in warriors jerseys now and ik others who just don't pay too much attention to bball anymore just because the Lakers aren't doing well/

This.
To many kids have no idea what it is like to go through a rebuild and be a shitty team in the NBA for awhile. Right now, Lakers suck. We have no business talking about being in the playoffs. But that does not mean that there is not a bit of hope with the young crew.
I am also a Padres fan and a Chargers fan, been through rebuilds. Lakers rebuilds are a bit less painful than other franchises.
Who knows if these kids are even going to be the next great Lakers brand, to young to know yet. Could be another 5-8 years to be truly relevant again.
