can we take a moment. and appreciate his greatness and re-assess his place in the NBA pantheon calmly and fairly without the bias, bigotry, or passion aroused from his playing days.
Where do you rank him all time?
or in other words
How great is our GAWD

Kobe is top 5-7 on the All Time List. His presence will be missed greatly.

Kobe's part of a very exclusive group to be MVP, lead two teams to a title & make 10 All-NBA Teams. Arbitrary, maybe, but it's a pretty good indicator of greatness. The only players to qualify would be
Russell
Wilt
Kareem
Bird
Magic
Jordan
Hakeem
Shaq
Kobe
Duncan
LeBron
People get way too hung up on "top 10", I put those 11 in an exclusive group as the true GOAT's

I agree, everyone on that list is a certified one name player. No last name, or first, necessary

True. One name is indicator of greatness. Bird, Magic, MJ, Shaw, Kobe, LeBron etc.

One of the defining players of his Era.
It goes beyond achivements, new players mold after his mentality, play style, footwork and work ethic.
One of the best One-team-One-Career examples out there, and perhaps only rivaled by Tim Duncan in modern times in terms of success and how one draft pick shaped a franchise.
Probably the next best Shooting Guard after MJ, and likely could've thrived in any era he played in.
One of the best 10-15 players to ever pick up a basketball.
