View Full Version : San Antonio can break 70 wins this year
coined

Last year they got 67, of which 3 losses were against Golden State and 2 against OKC.
This season that OKC doesnt exist, and they got one game out of the way vs Golden State. I think its very probable.

I think the cavs have a shot at 70 wins also. They look much better than last year.

No won is breaking 70.
Lebron is coasting way too hard, Warriors are fixing their chemistry, and Kawhi's hot streak will be followed by a really cold streak, not to mention the Spurs resting system.

Lol he already started tonight didn't he? Pop doesn't give a shit about 70 wins, he wants his team rested and ready for the playoffs. Let Steve Kerr and his smug self worry about regular season records :lol

It's no hot streak, he's improved like he's done every season. Turned 25 this summer and we're still yet to see his absolute peak.

I think it's possible. Popovich rests his players, but that's kind of the current NBA culture. That makes it much easier to win 70+ games for elite team, if one of them decides to go all out during the regular season, like the Golden State Warriors last year.

4-0 so far. Everything is looking good from here. No one can outalpha Kawhi in the clutch, so the game just needs to be close going down the stretch and it's lights out for the league.

Spurs have everything you need.
Great outside shooters (Green, Mills, Leonard)
Great mid-range shooters (Leonard, Aldridge)
Deep bench
Elite defenders
Veterans with championship experience
Arguably GOAT coach.
They're so well coached, and play beautiful team basketball.
On that note.
They will probably win between 60-64 games. 70 is a stretch. Pop will rest his starters.

only thing they dont have is a true rim protector.. pau, aldridge and david lee are all offensively inclined

Patty Mills has the highest ORtg and TS% in the league so far and has the most made 3 pointers... but is getting only 22 mins a game.
Parker has shot a putrid 5 of 19 in his three games, his ORtg is only 84 (compared to Patty's 146) and his DRtg is worse than Patty's too... But he's still getting more minutes and starting ahead of Patty. Parker is the reason that the games against the kings and heat were close... notice the blow out win in the game he sat out.
Pop needs to inject Mills into the starting lineup and deport Parker back to France.
If he does this the Spurs will win 70 games.

Yep
At least Mills was in the lineup at the end of the game vs the Heat. Spurs could say goodbye to Parker and Ginobili right now and be totally fine. Kawhi + LA leading the way, Pau and Lee as the vets, and lots of young talent. Lee has been better than I thought so far and fit in really well with the 2nd unit.

Lee is a monster. Dedmon. Simmons. BERTANS. I get hard just thinking about our roster.

And some fans were asking if Spurs era is over after Timmy retired, but Spurs havent skipped a beat, as I expected. Spurs will do great for as long as they have Pop, their decline will start only after Pop retires.

- the current roster is better and younger
- in last season, were 5 losses to gsw (SA won in Oracle) and okc (now without Durant and Ibaka)
- even resting players, SAS won 67 games in last season, it's reasonable to think we can win more than 67 this time

Same problem will happen to the Spurs in the playoffs as last year there guard play will be there downfall kawhi and lamarcus will tony Parker and patty mills as your point guards and 39 yr old Ginobli will only take u so far.

yea it would because last years team was way better. spurs don't run into a hot thunder team I'm almost certain the spurs would have met the cavs in the finals. its hard to replace legends like timmy. he will be missed....of course it isn't apparent yet just most teams weaknesses aren't apparent yet...give it some time
you basically asking two of the softest rim protectors/defenders in the league to hol ddown the paint for you (lma/pau).....
timmy at the age of 39 was still way better than both those guys combined and lets not forget about the dude who left for detroit

From the games i've seen this year, Pau's defense is indeed trash. 40 year old TD was better on that end.
Aldridge hasn't been too good either. He abused GS but that team has no front court anymore. It was easy pickings for him. Against Sac, he got abused by Cousins/Koufos. Wasn't any better against Pelicans with Davis/Asik. Guy is soft as shit when he has to play legit big men.
Kawhi has been amazing though. Him and Patty Mills have been carrying the Spurs thus far.

If Parker stays in the starting lineup, I'm tipping Mills for sixth man of the year. If Mills gets elevated, he's a good chance for most improved player.

Funny how so many are basing predictions on what? 4 games. Early days yet. Parker looks useless - especially for that amount of money.

When in all seriousness in the last 2-3 years has Parker not looked completely useless?

I doubt they win 70, but theyre looking great. Kawhi being more aggressive, and Gasol/Dedmon to replace the Turd Towers (Diaw/West) gives us a way higher ceiling in the playoffs though.
Give more minutes away from Parker to Mills.
They should be favorites in a series against every team besides GSW.

Knowing Pop, he would rather get 69 than 70 because if they got 70 it would look like he was going for it and not limiting minutes.

At the beginning of 2014-15, a lot of people were saying Tony Parker is the best PG in the league. Barkley being one of them.

I wonder if we can trick a team into thinking Enrique is still somewhat valuable. I'd commit murder in order for this team to have George Hill back, for instance.

Not surprising from a 34 year old speed-oriented PG with 15 years of mileage, including alot of deep playoff runs, on his legs. Ginobli still looks amazingly spry for 39, though.

Oh yeah, didn't even think of the international play. I didn't see them last night, but I imagine 'those nights' will be par for a player that age. The other night though( Against Pelicans I think?), there were some plays where he looked pretty agile and quick.

If it happens, it happens... I hope Spurs don't try too hard for a crazy amount of wins... health is more important than a great seeding imo... At the end of the day, you have to beat the best of the best no matter who you go through

Developing chemistry is as important as health. This is their first Duncan-less season and they need to rework their identity as a team.

parker is just way too much of a liability at this point and i don't have high hopes for gasol either. Kawhi could have a Kobe level season and that still wouldn't be enough for 70 wins with really only him and aldridge carrying.

Indeed. Kawhi just dropped 30 again and we got blown out. Starting Patty might need to happen sooner than later as Parker is completely done.
