PORTLAND, Ore. -- Certain members of the Golden State Warriors didn't take too kindly to the props LeBron James used at his annual Halloween Party over the weekend.

The part they took exception to was a skeleton James had stationed on a stage with "3-1 Lead" inscribed on the bass drum head, a clear shot at the Warriors squandering a 3-1 series lead in the 2016 NBA Finals.

I will point out that this was after the Warriors took 6 games to beat a Cavs team on which Delly was getting 40 minutes a night and our second best player was Tristan Thompson and then ... Delly? Also, the rotation was about 6 deep.

Players don't lobby for suspensions ... teams do. And, it happens all the time in the NBA, especially in the playoffs. That is part of the franchise's responsibility. It was covered quite a bit in the aftermath of the suspension. He should have been suspended after the Adams kick.

While it isn't common, it is more common in baseball to come back from 3-1 than it is in basketball. If the Cubs were to pull this off, they'd be the 14th team in MLB history to win after falling behind 3-1.

It has happened 9 times in the NBA playoffs.

Now, before someone posts that baseball goes back a lot further than basketball, I'll remind you that NBA playoffs have way more games/series than MLB playoffs. There are only three 7-game playoff series each season in major league baseball.

Meanwhile, basketball has eight series in just the first round of the playoffs. In total, there are 15 series every year in basketball.

That means it takes five years for baseball to accumulate one season of 7-game NBA playoff games.


Despite five times the number of playoff series every year in the NBA, baseball still has more 3-1 comebacks. Hell, one team came back from a 3-0 deficit in a 7-game series in baseball.

It has happened five times in the World Series. Last year was the first ever time it has happened in the NBA Finals.


I agree, it is a little eerie how this is playing out, but let's not lose sight that it isn't as unheard of in baseball as it is in basketball.
