Paul George even tho I've been hating on him for opening his mouth.
Paul George has superstar potential.
Gordon Hayward is what y'all call a "system player" :confusedshrug:

The guy who has been in the playoffs/ECF twice in a row/All star game several times/Olympic team.
(Love Hayward btw. Did a lengthy post on how much I appreciate him.)

I'd take Gordon Hayward, I feel like every night we know what to expect from Gordon Hayward. He's not a superstar but he's a very consistent player, rarely has awful games. He's also improved every season he's been in the league.
Paul George on the other hand, is literally the most inconsistent top 15 player in the league. He can light you up for 40 one night or shoot 4/23 on 9 points. I also feel like since that ECF series he's had we've been waiting for him to "Take off" and he still hasn't delivered. They're both great players, I'd just want the sure bet every night.

Probably George because of the defense...Hayward is going to have his biggest season yet, though. He's on a contract year and has already shown early, despite missing pre-season and early regular season games, that he remains the alpha and leader of this team.

By the end of this season, it won't seem so ridiculous to pick Hayward. He is going to have a big season and put up something like 22/6/4 on good efficiency. He's a decent defender too...not a PG level defender, but still decent. Either way, putting them in the same conversation won't be absurd or anything unless Goerge takes a big step forward.

I'm with you on this.
But we're not there yet.
Right now? Going on what we have? PG.
That's like saying KAT Is better than Blake Griffin.
In two years? Could very well be the case, but we can't jump the gun.

People have been expecting Paul George to make a big leap since 2013, but it never quite happens. He's not quite quick enough to get to the rim whenever, and he's also a somewhat subpar finisher for someone with his height and vertical leap. He'll never be a surefire offensive superstar. With that said, we always see the full extent of his impact in the playoffs and he looks like a top 5 player. Give me PG any day.

I'd say George but Hayward does look much improved this year and if he can keep putting up the numbers he is right now it's a legit argument.

The days of Paul George being a Melo-type inefficient chucker SHOULD be over, at least for the time being. He's shooting it at a great clip so far this season, and really he has no excuse not to considering they got him a lot more help in the offseason.
I'd take George over Hayward for sure and still give him an outside shot at nabbing the MVP this year.

Tonight's stat lines:
Paul George 26, 9, 4
Gordon Hayward 20, 10, 8
Hayward seems to be putting up the more rounded stat line while PG is the scorer
I'll bookmark this thread and revisit it closer to the all star break. It might be a legit comparison

TBF Turner had 4 fouls in the first 12 minutes and was out four 2 quarters. Joel went to work. George was pretty much the only thing keeping them in
