I wouldn't want kobe on my team no matter what i don't care how much talent he has

you gotta be some kinda special ahole for phil jackson to call you "uncoachable" in a book

That's a bit of a stretch isn't it?
There's not a single player in the top 30 that I 'Wouldn't want' on my team.
But then again, my team missed the playoffs since going to the WCF in 04'.
So yeah, I'll take any help we can get.

there's only 2 players in the top 30 I wouldn't want and 1a and 1b are both kobe and lebron
both players that must beyond any shadow of doubt have everything go through them whether it benefits the team or not
mj might be the greatest ahole that ever lived based on stories, but at he least he figured out that he must play as a team and within a system to get where he wanted to be at.

I dunno man.
Unless your team is currently in the middle of a 3-peat, I don't see any reason not to want either of these players.
Yeah, Super-teams don't always work, but Prime Kobe? come on. Who wouldn't want that. Even moreso when it comes to Lebron, GM's will sell their daughters for that. Prime Lebron, and to a lesser extent Prime Kobe, change the history of franchises. It's like drafting MJ or Hakeem, you never say no to that.

That's the difference between guys like kobe vs guys who share lebron's mindset like yourself. Kobe was so alpha that he said "fvck it, Ima get my own without Shaq since the haters are saying he carried me. Then he won 2 more rings in alpha fashion. No one could stop him. Not wind defenders, not Christian Thompson, no one!

Can we rest Kobe in his retirement grave :confusedshrug:
The guy has two chips leading a team , and three with Shaq. /
end all threads of Kobe , guys that do start up threads use other retired players.

I love me some Kobe, but that quote is pretty dumb and its no way to win games really. What if the guy who isn't signed (and in all probability hes a great player) goes off because the strategy is based on off field bs? Lakers lose, other team wins. and then the next game, nobody does that strategy anymore against said team so it doesnt have any impact on the long run on the chemistry between the two stars. Am I missingg something here???

It's cuz they love to hate Kobe and will cling onto anything they can and use it against him.
Kobe is very clear and straightforward with how he is. He's unapologetic about anything and he's said many times that he's not here to babysit players and once he can't be a legit first option, he's retiring. These are the very reasons why he said he wouldn't make a good coach and would never consider coaching. He made this shit very clear.
Now they're calling him a cancer for giving the fans what they wanted. He went out each night and took shots, tried to put on a show, not for himself but for his fans in every city. He didn't always deliver, more often than not he had a poor game. This worked to LA's advantage in ticket sales as well as landing us the #2 pick.
In every Kobe thread now, you see these haters try to cling onto anything they can to hate on him. Most of this is from twilight of his career where his body was breaking down and he downright sucked. After it's all said and done, Kobe is still in their thoughts constantly despite being retired and having nothing to do with the NBA anymore.
So yes, Kobe's mental game is indeed miles ahead of his foes.

yep very true
Larry brown was a great coach as far as the mental aspect and preparation for the game goes. Good motivator. 6'9 Ben Wallace was holding down Shaq and locking down the paint in the PnR w/ Kobe. Worst year of the Kobe-Shaq Dynasty but I still think we'd have won if it wasn't for Malone's injury. Sheed had it easy that finals vs Medvedenko.

Mfs who can't take a compliment are the worst.
We laughed for a numerous amount of reasons
A) The thread was made to commend Kobe's mental game, and then you said he learned it from someone else who did it to him. Thus making it funny because it's not "alpha" to copy another man's strategy like Kobe fans like to say.
B) If you really think LB double teamed Shaq and Kobe because of their contracts and not because of their all time great scoring abilities you're crazy. So it was funny there too.
Overall it was a funny joke, you knew people would laugh to so idk why you're tryna act righteous like you were trying to compliment LB, you were most definitely coming at Kobe.

as to the practicality of this strategy, the questions being asked, are, what are the possibilities for the supportive player to disrupt the momentum of the game? And whether if a player can utilize the seconds being passed by, to let where the salary of each player balances out
Well then, either teams and players start going with a one championship route, or teams start saying, 'well, as a team, we've paid you this much money, so we get to "insert objectives"' I wouldn't be one bit surprised if this was how the Bird Rule came along

Yeah that was the key, Sheed can do whatever he wants and score whenever he wants. Most of the games were not close, otherwise Shaq would have switch on him in the last 5 minutes or so. Malone was the glue guy because that year, they have worst feud.

The thread was created to prove how "alpha" Kobe was. It's not very "alpha" to lose in the finals to someone who essentially played a mind game on you, then to use that mind game on others and not explicitly say where you got that from.
Your comment was funny, sorry if laughter hurt your feelings.
