I'm having a debate w/ a friend over this stupid ass topic.
Have the prices always been typically $60 USD? He claims that a new release game cost him $40 CANADIAN DOLLARS (obv. in Canada) -- which I find bullshit. The only explanation for it is that it was probably an AA title, or what? I have no clue, but I just find it hard to believe. There's no way that an AAA new release game would cost below $60 USD in another country.

We have come to a conclusion that it was probably due to the currency exchange rates. LMFAOOOO

New games in Canada are $79.99 for a while now since our dollar got low. I'd never seen a new AAA title below 59.99 even when our dollar was greater than the USD a few years ago.
There are always sales though. I pre-ordered Battlefied 1 and FF XV for $45 CAD from Amazon.

There is such a thing as inflation. What you should really be wondering about is why an engineer still makes 90k a year when they were making that same amount in the 80s.

Yeah, I checked that it peaked around July 2011.

As a structural engineer, I agree. People think I make big money, not true. I make less than almost any public service employee, car factory workers, tradespeople.

I was paying $70 for N64 games back in the 90's. Up to $300 for Neo Geo games.
