The overrating of Klay Thompson?

In this poster's opinion he is an above average player but calling him an All-Star seems to be a stretch. He benefits heavily from playing in Golden State and would not be able to do nearly as well on any other team from my understanding. How would you rate Klay Thompson in these categories?

Pretty good player...pretty much the ray allen of this era....can be a number 1 option on a team but I don't think he leads you to a ship unless you build a contender around him.....see the 2001 bucks......if it wasn't for ai and the sixers....who knows???

Hey thanks for making this thread OP.


As many of you know I am a big time fan of the Warriors, as well as the Miami Heat.


I have watched Klay Thompson progress ever since he was drafted, and I have seen him improve year after year.

Boy am I glad we never traded him for Kevin Love. Klay Thompson arrived as a superstar last year, averaging 25 points in the playoffs and carrying the Warriors to the Finals. His 3 point shooting ability is absolutely special, and his ability to guard point guards makes him a lethal two-way threat.




I am confident in saying that we would not have made the Finals if Klay did not score 41 points in that epic Game 6.





Overall, he makes a great 2nd option for Durant on this Warriors team, and I'm glad to have 2 superstars on this team at the Shooting Guard and Small Forward position.

Ray Allen was definitely an above average ballhandler and as a result of that and superior body control/fluidity, he was a much better shot creator and slasher. And he was probably at least as good at shooting.

He held back Harden, he held back Westbrook, now he is holding back Klay.


Klay needs his own squad like the others I mentioned and you will see a top 10 player.

Last year I saw a post up play by him , where I thought he was more less one dimensional , spot up shooter.

I think his game is more developed than Hero Ball Curry.

Thompson is willing to defend a SF as well as guards, which says that he has some balls.
No real pet moves on the out side , but I think his game will evolve over time , specially if he leaves Warriors hero ball style.
