On the trading block,

I think he would fit in PERFECTLY in our system, and would work so well as a go to scorer on our team.

KCP + 1st round pick, would that work?

p.s I know this would never happen in a million years - in a hypothetical though, Klay would probably average 28+ ppg on our roster

A beautiful pipe dream. He would fit PERFECTLY.

We'd still be lacking the go-to guy for scoring, though. I don't think Klay is the guy that can take it by himself night in and night out without a cast that can spread the floor for him. We don't have those shooters.

Secondly, I think the only way we get Klay is having Drummond leave. We have nothing else to offer unless we gutted our team for one dude.

Now....if we can get him through free agency, boy oh boy! We'd be top 3 in the East, for sure. Don't know about a title contender, though.

See, there are two thoughts of thinking,

1 - He is lucky to play with Curry and Green who have been able to spread the floor for him, and as a result has been able to get extremely clean looks to make him one of the deadliest shooters of all-time,

2 - he plays within himself as a complimentary piece. If he had the "shackles" removed and was the clear "go to guy" then we would see Klay's true potential.

I feel like he fits into both of these categories somehow. He is much more than just a 3pt specialist which is what I feel like he has been perceived as these past few years. He has a lot of moves on O from all 3 levels.

I don't think KCP and a 1st could top anything Boston could offer although I think every Pistons fan would do that in a second. I really don't think Thompson is on the trading block like some of the rumors are saying.

538 just ranked the top 53 players to have for the next 6 years. KCP was 44th. Klay didn't make the list.

Wow, that's surprising. I'm not sure I agree with that. Did any other Pistons make the list?

Drummond was 43.

Not sure I agree either, but its interesting. Makes you wonder if he's a bit of a system product. I think his analytics suffer a bit because he is asked to guard the tougher player every night, but so is KCP so IDK

I don't think he'd be on the trading block anymore.

I actually think CJ McCollums tweet has a bit of truth to it. I'm not sure a team can handle 4 max contracts. Steph is going to be the highest paid player in the NBA. Durant is always going to get the max. The NBA players association wouldn't allow any different. These guys can't take "pay cuts" to play together because it will screw over the market for the rest of the players. Draymond is going to get a max deal. You can't give out a 4th one and have the cap space to put the rest of the team together. At some point someone will be the odd man out. It's probably Klay. I think they will try to keep it together and dominate the league for as long as they can, but it will come to an end. It makes basketball unwatchable right now anyhow. Next season guess who is going to be in the Finals? Unless there are some major roster changes on some other teams it's Cleveland vs. Golden State again..... the worst part is people are stupid so they are watching. Ratings are up so there is no reason for the league to do anything.

Rumor has it Durant opted out of his option to take a pay cut to keep Andre Iguodala.

Rumor has it Steph may take less than the max to keep the team together.

The players association will crush them if they do that. Not to mention the fans of basketball will give them a ton of grief for being so weak to not compete against each other. I loved basketball my entire life. I still play in 4 leagues. Between how stupid SVG has been with the Pistons and that particular move by Durant which is the weakest I have ever seen a competitor do it really makes me not interested at all.
