We all know PER is a flawed stat. But if we simplify the stats to just focus on points, rebounds and assists per minute, filtering out players who played too few games, and adjusted for NBA average over the entire history of the NBA, we can see who was the most productive player per minute in the three big statistical categories. The stat is called PRAMA for Points + Rebounds + Assists per Minute Adjusted.

So for example in 1962, Wilt averaged 1.616 points, rebounds and assists per minute. The 1962 NBA average was 0.765. The NBA historical average is 0.649. Adjusting Wilt's PRAM downward for the historical average gives him a 1.325 PRAMA. Westbrook had a 1.281 PRAM in 2015, with the year average of 0.628. Adjusting Goatbrook's upward to the historical average gives him a 1.321.

Here are the top 20 all-time individual rankings (using best PRAMA season):

Incidentally, there are 89 (unique) players in NBA history who have had a PRAMA season of >= 1.

Do you expect any stat that shows MJ and KAJ at #14 and #15 to be taken seriously?

Pretty sure they're both a lot lower on the 3pt FGM list among many other lists. Yet they all show you something interesting. Not every list is a GOAT ranking.

Is it possible to have emptier stats than the Big 3 on that list. :lol

you should've named it the BETA stat tbh, that top 10 is gold:

wilt the goat chocker CHECK
westbrook CHECK
kevin fuccing love CHECK
shaq (anomaly)
cucky CHECK
dubeta CHECK
lebeta (2011, rest is anomaly)
karl malone CHECK
cousins CHECK
tmac CHECK
kobe CHECK
kg CHECK.

only 2 real alphas in the top 10, and no jordan, nor kaj, lebron barely made it (i guess 2011 really helped him :lol ). mission accomplished tbh, great stat, we all knew wilt is the biggest beta in history, now we have proof.

imo cousins should be in the gamma list :lol

:applause:

There is nothing wrong with the math. It's not like any one stat determines all-time rankings. Was just curious as to who was the most productive player per minute in the big 3 stats, if you adjust them. Was very surprised that Westbrook's '15 season was that close to Wilt's 62 season. Crazy if you think about it. Love coming in third was a total shock, but that was a very productive season that gets overlooked because he happened to be on the Wolves.

I would have included blocks and steals, but then you can't use the stat before 73, which means no Wilt.

I forgot, what is the gamma list? Cousins needs to be on a winning team for once to see. Interesting that AD, KAT, Cousins and Embiid are all putting up nice numbers, but it doesn't translate to wins very often.

yep one thing to keep in mind. PER may have its issues but even a good era adjustment like this prama ranking is likely worse at ranking people all time. The main problem is you have to find a way to include efficiency in the equation(ts% and tov's)

Why would you downgrade from a conglomerate stat like PER that uses important stuff like FG% and turnovers as well, to a conglomerate stat that just uses 3 stats?

LOL wtf...
