An amazing accomplishment to be sure. He would also lead the NBA in scoring a few years later.

Of course, Wilt averaged 44 ppg in his first three NBA seasons, and 40 ppg over the course of his first seven.

Was bringing Wilt up necessary?

No three point line too. Dude was truly ahead of his time. He'd be a god if he played in the modern era.

Won a FMVP averaging 19 ppg, and would have won another one in '67 averaging 18 ppg, and in a series in which an opposing player averaged 41 ppg.

Of course, LeCHOKE averaged 36 ppg in a Finals in which he was DOMINATED by a FMVP who just happened to a role player coming off the bench.

BTW, Wilt had "Finals" of 22-25-7, 22-32-10, 28-30, 29-28, 30-31, 31-27, and 34-27. The REAL NBA Finals in the decade of the 60's involved the Celtics...and WILT.

Example:

'65 EDF's. Chamberlain single-handedly carried a 40-40 team to a game seven one point loss, against a six-time defending 62-18 Celtic team at the peak of their dynasty. In that game, he scored Philly's last 8 points to bring his Sixers to within 110-109. The "clutch" Russell then hit a guidewire giving the ball back to the Sixers under their own basket, and with 5 secs remaining. Unfortunately for Wilt...instead of having a teammate like Allen or Kyrie, hit a game-winner...he had a teammate throw away the inbounds pass. BTW, in that game seven Chamberlain scored 30 points, on .800 FG% (and a .724 TS%), with 32 rebounds.

For the series, Chamberlain LED BOTH teams in MPG, PPG, RPG, TRB%, FG%, TS%, and Blocks. He averaged 30.1 ppg, 31.4 rpg, 7.0 bpg, shot .555 from the field (in a series in which the two teams combined to shoot .413), and had a .575 TS% (in a series in which the two teams combined to shoot .465.)

Oh, and then Boston went on to destroy the Lakers in the "Finals", 4-1, with two 30+ point wins, including a clinching 129-96 win. In a series in which Russell averaged 18 ppg, 25 rpg, and shoty...get this... .702 from the field.

Oh, and that Laker center that Russell wiped the floor with...was this same center...

Unfortunately for Chamberlain, he never faced the Lakers in the playoffs for even one game in the decade of the 60's, or he would likely own virtually every major scoring and FG% record in playoff history.

As a sidenote, a prime Chamberlain had FOUR 50+ point playoff games, including the ONLY THREE in "must win" playoff games by a GOAT candidate. He also had two more "must win" playoff games of 46 and 45 (the 45 point game coming in a Finals game and on 20-27 shooting from the floor and with 27 rebounds.)
