It's an interesting topic. The guys are going to have an extreme advantage, but at the same time they are playing against what I assume to be a very organized team. With basketball you could have a Dream Team roster playing raw with no coaching losing to the top more organized college kids.

It would be hard for the women to even get a shot up honestly. How are they gonna do it? They are slower, less agile, shorter, not as strong, less technically skilled, can't leap as high. It would be a major blowout because they could not defend anyone and there's no way they could actually ever get clean looks unless the men have a major mental error

Why would you expect Serena to DOMINATE D1 male tennis players - I doubt she would even be competitive. Are you aware that McEnroe reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon at 18 as an unknown amateur qualifier - hadn't even entered college yet much less competed in NCAA? That Boris Becker won Wimbledon at 17 and that Mats Wilander and Michael Chang won French Opens at 17, that Bjorn Borg won the 1st of his 6 French Open days after turning 18. As long as a male has finished growing, the corresponding male tennis player is stronger and faster than any woman playing tennis.

In basketball, women use a smaller ball and closer 3 pt line.

IMO, there is no comparison between men and women in either sport (and that's coming from a woman).

It was a testament to my argument going even beyond standard athletic standards, in chess you need visual-spatial processing and quantitative reasoning. With the emergence of computers and chess engines that can beat any GM, you don't need to play against human players, regardless of sex, to improve your game. Plus, since the 70s, women have regularly been playing against men, so it's not a separate pool, it's that women have struggled against men chess players. Hou Yifan, the current world champion from my initial example became a grandmaster at 14 so it's not like she started playing chess a few years ago and lacks experience etc.

If you let me choose the best 5 guys, absolutely. The average height of WBNA players is 6'0". So the ladies we would be playing would be near our heights. And we would be much stronger, faster, quicker, explosive, etc.

I can see how people who don't play the game constantly would be somewhat impressed by "professional" female players and think that they have some secret advantage that only "professionals" would have. That's just nonsense. Most people simply don't have an advanced level of skill because they don't dedicate themselves to their craft. But guess what, there are people who actually do.

I represented my state in under 16's basketball, and the most cut up and slapped I've ever been was when we played the professional womens team from our state here in Australia. We were a bunch of 15 year olds, and they were fully grown women. They had some tall 6'7 or 6'8 chick too, which none of us came close to at the time. Our tallest player was about 6'4 or 6'5 and I would have been second at about 6'2 at the time.

It was an absolute blowout. We ended up beating them by 50 points. Not only that, but our coach prior to the game, told us to take it easy and work on certain parts of our game. We actually went into the game thinking it was going to be slightly more relaxed and used as a training tool rather than a proper game. They couldn't keep up with the pace of the game, they weren't any better than us in terms of skills, but we were able to put those skills to use at a much higher speed, and physically they weren't a match, but it was probably the closest area for them, so they tried to push, scratch and claw as much as they could. Never in my life have I ever been boxed out better than in that game. :oldlol: Chick got so low and dug her butt into my knees. Took me by complete surprise simply because, like I said, we were expecting a more relaxed game.
The 6'8 chick was clumsy and slow. She did block our guys a few times at the start, but was easily figured out. Couldn't do anything on offense simply due to being slow and getting picked off any time the ball went into the post. Another thing I remember was the passes into the post being terrible, since I was the one that had to guard her on occasions when our tallest 6'5 guy was out.

Those are all things that men can improve in with practice/time and match women's level. The size, speed and strength advantage that men have cannot be overcome with practice/time.

The women have the practice/time advantage in this scenario since they're professionals and the men are college players. I am assuming they are professionally in shape, in sync, and have their shit together while the mean are more raw and probably less focused. Sure, maybe now. I haven't picked up a basketball since I played poido, and prior to playing poido I hadn't picked up a ball for over a year. I thought I did fine considering... I know it is easy to make excuses, but I only really play as hard as I need to given the guy I'm going up against. I said I wouldn't let poido score a point, but naturally that is tough given I don't really try to hard on defense, and he hit 4 uncontested 3's on me since I didn't know and didn't think he could shoot.
There is a reason I won the second game 11-1 or 11-2, whatever it was.

If I really wanted to be a d!ck, I could drive, or simply back the ball in the post every time against 99% of this board, and no one could really do a thing against a guy 6'4 and 225lbs. Clearly me not being 170lbs like I was when I was 16, and able to go around guys, and windmill dunk, I'm not as dynamic as I once was. Not to mention, not picking up a ball in over a year, or shooting at all in over a year and playing someone and winning 11-2 is a bad thing now?

There is a little hill there on the way up to the road. I got my girlfriend to stand on that to try and get as level shot as possible. It was a basic tomahawk. Can't windmill anymore, too heavy. A two hand basic, and a reverse is about as good as it gets. Let me put it like this, the school I went to (DePaul) had an elite women's college basketball team.

The regular dudes who would come play pick up on a nightly basis or played intramural college league would consistently beat them. Myself included, though I also played on the practice team that got beat up on by the men's team.
