Former Virginia starter Akil Mitchell suffered a gruesome eye injury in a National Basketball League game Thursday night in New Zealand.
While trying to tip the ball in on a rebound, a defending player accidentially poked the New Zealand Breakers forward in the eye. Mitchell went down immediately to the concern of his teammates, and then a camera zoomed in on his face to show the horror.
