i basically ordered an entirely new computer yesterday. got a new cpu, new mobo, new ram, new case... basically everything except the GPU. I am gonna put my gtx1070 in my new comp and buy a rx480 or something to put in my old comp and give it to a friend. i think i might return my dell monitor so i can get a better one of those too :oldlol:

good call. yesterday I returned my dell monitor and got this acer one (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-XB271HU-2560x1440-Display/dp/B0173PEX20/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490981503&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+predator+1440p). the dell was great but the IPS is definitely better than TN. only $500 at costco
with your rig you should be able to get ~110-120ish fps in bf at ultra in 1440p, if you turn the settings down a bit you should be able to hit 140fps easily.

Two Samsung PRO SSD
I recently just upgraded the video card like a month ago. So far good enough for my gaming needs. I don't game as much as I used to and my gf got a ps4 so I'm splitting time between the two now. I am regretting the motherboard purchase because I checked and saw on Newegg that there aren't many CPUs nowadays that are compatible with it. But that upgrade wont be anytime soon.

i7-7700k with a cryorig h7
evga gtx 1070
msi z270 sli plus motherboard
16 gigs ddr4 corsair ram 3000mhz
500gb ssd
nzxt s340 pro case
also exchanged my 24" dell TN gsync 1440p/144hz for a 27" acer IPS gsync 1440p/144hz
im amazed at how cold my cpu is running. i read a bunch of horror stories about heat issues with this processor, and i had some problems mounting the cooler, so i figured my cpu would be cooking... but so far i have not seen it top 60c. my next upgrade is probably gonna be a 1080ti or something like that so i can take full advantage of this monitor. i currently get a very reliable 90-100fps in bf1 in 1440p on ultra, which is great, but it would be nice to get up to 140+.

sick. i have the same case and ram.
my intel 6700k gets extremely hot playing bf1. i hit 65-70c regularly. i'm thinking i should re-mount the cooler so i can reapply the thermal paste. i've had temps hit 80c +. maybe it's because i only have 2 case fans, but that's why i watch my temps carefully.

65-70 isnt too bad compared to the temps ive seen people reporting on reddit and stuff, but remounting the cooler is definitely worth a shot. i am usually hovering around 50c in bf1. i dont have any extra fans or anything either.

Your cpu will downclock to protect itself from damage. Don't worry about it too much. If you want to brag about temps on reddit, try these steps:
If you only have 2 case fans, it's crucial that your wiring needs to be tucked away neatly out of the airflow. Start there.
Replace the stock fans with something better.
Get the best CPU cooler you can afford.
Monitor the ambient temps of your room. AC units are going to lag behind the longer sessions you play.

im getting much higher temps for both my CPU and GPU now that i swapped my 1070 for a 1080ti. i think my 1080ti is heating up my CPU too, theres only about an inch gap between my GPU and CPU heatsink and when I put my hand in the gap its clear that a ton of heat is coming off the top of the GPU. before I was getting 55-60c on both components and now my GPU is reading ~70c and my CPU is at ~75 when under full load. i ordered a couple more case fans, hopefully that helps.

Yup Tustin haha
Why do you play it on Med?
a mixture of being accustomed to med-low graphics since that was my standard setting for games due to shitty PC's in the past + most competitive OW players play on those settings for optimal performance. so i guess i blindly followed.
but the rig easily handles ultra, 150+ fps for my 144hz monitor.

cryptocurrency miners have completely crashed the graphics card market right now, but the 1050ti is fine for 99% of users anyway.
i dont use AMD but on the computer forums i visit it seems like most people are pretty happy with ryzen.
one thing about ryzen is that its really important to have fast ram, so make sure you get ram that is ddr4 and at least 3000mhz.

Going to rebuild late summer-fall; think I might go back to AMD for the first time in 12+ years. The performance:price is incredible right now. Especially if you include Freesync vs. G-Sync.
Nice to finally have some competition back in the market.

yeah AMD is definitely the overall winner on price/performance ratio these days. unfortunately the current gen AMD GPUs are fantastic for cryptocurrency mining, so thanks to the etherium craze these GPUs are all massively overpriced right now. if you can find a rx580 right now, it probably costs about the same as a gtx1070 (a card that will completely destroy it for gaming purposes).
AMD has their vega generation cards coming out within the next month, supposedly those will be able to compete with the highest end nvidia cards... supposedly.

makes sense since the central computer on-board each vehicle has to handle massive amounts of data from the LiDar, and optical cameras.

I am still running my old rig.
I only play CSGO on my PC so I am looking at buying the Zowie 240HZ screen.
I never realized how sweet 240HZ screen is until I played on it CSGO. A totally different game and a joy to play it.
I always thought getting 200 FPS at CSGO is great. I never knew it makes no difference unless you got a gaming screen that can support that amount of FPS.
Basically if you got a 2080 RTX and I have 770GTX but we both got 60HZ screens the extra FPS won't matter.

ya i havent had the luxury of experiencing high hz gaming yet. i'm better off not knowing what i'm missing, lol. i tried to get into bf5, but man - that shit just makes me wanna pick up cs again. getting blown up by tanks and planes isn't my thing. if i'm gonna get raped i want it to at least be good rape.

you overclock the cpu? heard they can hit 4.8-5ghz pretty easily with good cooling.
also, you ever try 144 gaming? i went from 60 fps to a 144hz monitor and it was night and day difference for first person shooters. you'd have to dial it back to 1440p tho, 4k is too high.

Looking back, I think the smartest thing I did with this build was investing in a top-end monitor. Out of every piece of hardware and every peripheral, the monitor has the biggest impact on the day-to-day experience with a computer, and if I was going to do it all again I would splurge on the monitor at the expense of my computer components without question.

there probably won't be any 3080's until ps5 launch anyway lol. they released them last week and it was a clusterfvck, people using bots purchased them and are scalping. nvidia has way too little stock anyways, looks like they got ahead of themselves. still waiting to purchase one and it's sold out everywhere.

stay on the lookout for those site-wide 15%-20% ebay coupons that pop up once a month-ish, especially around the holidays. newegg, bestbuy, etc have 'ebay stores' where you can basically buy new directly from them... but through ebay (that statement contradicts itself, but u know what it is). you may not get the particular aib (evga, asus, etc.) card that you want, but you'll get a solid discount on it.

Definitely, good advice. I follow slickdeals.net frequently as well
I'm not sweating it or in a rush. And from the looks of things i'll probably have a tough time copping a PS5 within the first couple weeks also.
Really just wanted to enjoy Cyberpunk2077 on new hardware, been following the hype on this game for years now

Love the cyberpunk genre, Ghost in a Shell and Blade Runner. 80's Synthwave music
CP2077 will be my GTA V, 100%. Except open world first person and more dense. The verticality of crowded cities, skyscrapers and entering buildings which Rockstar games don't have. That's it for me.
CD Projekt Red are the best of the best, Witcher 3 was incredible

dells aren't very upgrade friendly, and moving into next gen, that pc isn't going to get you very far... even at just 1080p (my opinion from taking a quick glance at the hardware). yes - next gen consoles will be a fair step above that pc.
you'd be best off building your own if you want something that will last you awhile, or have someone build it for you.

Still haven't found any 3080's anywhere, had no luck on the 2nd wave of PS5 pre-orders either
AMD Zen 3 CPUs (October 8) & RDNA2 GPUs (October 28)
Hopefully Big Navi is competitive with ampere price and performance wise

if you know how to get this running, you can use nvidia snatcher to alert you with a text or email when one is in stock at any of the major retailers:
https://github.com/jef/nvidia-snatcher
or alternatively you can watch a 3 second delayed stream of it:
https://www.twitch.tv/falcodrin
seconds are like inches in football tho, they matter bc these bots are fast af

anyone digg the mac pro case? some indie company made a carbon copy of the case and is selling it, it supports most pc parts so you can build your standard ATX, E-ATX etc type of motherboards. I just ordered one:
