I was wonderin' how many shots do you think I should shoot a day to get on the "A" team?

I am guessing 300 or 400 but I'm not sure.

Also, how much do you think I should practice a day to get on the "A" team.

our school has "the gun" so i shoot about 500 in 45 minutes or so and it has to be over 55% or i go for another 100

This is how much I've been playing so far this summer.

Saturday: 515 shots, 2 hours and 25 minutes.
Sunday: 330 shots, 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Monday: 168 shots, 3 hours.

Totals: 1013 shots, 6 hours and 55 minutes.

My goals are 300 shots a day and 1 hour and 30 minutes a day.

Is this a good amount?

alright. yesterday and today i played for 4 hours each day. 400 shots yesterday and 325 today.

also, i played in a 5v5 game with 3 "a" kids and i scored 10 or 12 points in about 15 minutes. i think that i might be able to make that team if tryouts were today so i think there is no question i will when tryouts come in september. i am just gonna keep workin my  off.

good job man. Good to see some work ethic.

I made A team my eighth grade year but didnt play that much. So I played C team the last game and pretty much played the whole game. It was tight.

same thing appened to me then i played on the b team and dropped 24 points in 24 minutes....about a week later i was a starter on the a team...
It kind of pissed me off though that he sent me down...i balled all over then he says "well u got a lot of talent, so im gonna start u". i hadnt gotten any better then i was in the first place he just never gave me a chance...

well theres no way per say to make "a" team though i gotta say at the rate your goin pretty good but dont worry how many shots you take but how many you make because in a game u can miss 500 shots but that doesnt win u a game. work on jumpers, fakes and im a post so i work on my short range a lot but i work on my medium shot to. If you really wanna make a team just work on every shot lay-ups even fades once you have the jumper down. I made c team last year im goin into 8th now but i played all game and scored more than most a teamers =P good luck just keep at it.

Depends on how good your 'A' team is man. If it's anything like ours, you'll have to fight for your position. It's not just shots that'll make you good, it's everything, need to dribble, be able to rebound and all sorts of stuff.

Our coach is like no other coach. He's not into style. On our team of 10, we have 10 forwards. Every play MUST know how to play the other players position and every player MUST be able to shoot, dribble, rebound, pass. We never work on that stuff anymore.

But yeah, It all depends on the strength of your 'A' team and your coaches coaching style, and how many other players there are at your position trying it. If there is heaps. Up your shots to about 500 a day, and about 2 hours per day.

i got the "Ganon Baker superman workout for all players" and it has ball handling, driving, finishing, shooting off the catch, shooting off the dribble and conditioning. i would reccomend it to ne1.

I'm assuming he's talking about his club team. The team I play for has 3 teams for each age group, one in A, one in AA, and another in quad-A. The try-outs are all at the same time(about 50-60 people tryout, sometimes even more) and the top 12 players are on Team A, next 12 on team B, next 12 on Team C. Or he could be talking about his school team, maybe it's also split up.

i messed up my knee during tryouts (guy came down on it and just twisted it kinda funky - was out of commission for a few months) so i wound up not making my HS team...but i still played with a handful of the "A" HS guys in 3v3 5v5 and 21 games for a few years and hung with them pretty damn well...then it was all just friends and only a couple of them were really as good....but during that time i was practicing with about 3-400 shots per day with a minimum 50% (FT was 75% with a few hundred as well)....so i'd say you're doin well...keep it up and you should get a spot....

it depends on a few things ur confidence in ur form ur time and avalibilty. when i began shootin i did it on a gradual scale and when i got in the hundreds about 200 at 11 250 by 12 and now that im a teen i do 300 on everday during school a quarter of em moving half standing and a quarter 3s if im not satisfied i do 50 free throws and start over at the whole amount or portion. on weekends and summers 400 a day. same formula. Keep it up for a week and ull see results but be sure to not change ur form too often and if possible have a stand set up a video recorder have u take shots with ur forms and see which one suits u the best

I'm not sure how many shots I take, but I do have a fixed shooting workout that I do whenever I can get to the gym/play at an empty outside court. First I take 30-50 warm-up shots whilst moving back after every completed shot to get my form going and develop some range. After this I take free throws until I get to plus30, which usually takes about 40-50 shots. Next I play a few games of this game my coach taught us called "you vs MJ" where you have to get 11 points to win. You get 1 points for a made shot, and MJ gets two for a missed shot. Usually I play three games and take about 50 more shots. Finally, I play a game where you have to get to 50 points in the least amount of shots. 3 points for a 3, 2 points for a shot outside the key, 1 point for a shot in the key, and -2 for any shot missed, that's usually another 30-40 shots. So that's 150-180 shots overall, plus however many I take in a pick-up game. Usually I can do this in 30-45 minutes, and my form has really improved along with my range, so I'd say its working.
