Lillard's supporting cast isn't that good. They are the youngest team in the playoffs. They overachieved.

Speaking of Lillard...

Game 1 : 6-23 shooting
Game 2: 7-18 shooting
Game 3: 5-14 shooting, 8 turnovers

youre sleeping on 20 yr old ZACH COLLINS

No man, I'm a big believer in Collins. I want him to start next game. I've liked Collins all year. Some even think he is gonna be better than Nurkic.

He's a smart player. Nice form on his shot. Get's shots off quickly. Decent shot blocker. Blazers need to make moves. Coaching is first.

It isn't Lonzo bust guarding him anymore. Which should make you worried. If they can do this to Lillard what chance does Lonzo have?

They are swarming the guards and it works. Lillard can't kick it to Wesley Matthews and Aldridge anymore. He's got CJ who they are also focusing on.

You realize Lillard has 2 series wins and AD will have 1 after this one?

The last time Lillard won a series, he caught a break when CP3 broke his hand.

No one thinks Lillard is going to be the only star here and lead a team to the Finals. No one. He is a franchise PG though. Blazers need to aquire more talent.

CJ is a trade chip. Blazers need to realize two 6-3 guards is redundant. They should be targeting a guard like Jimmy Butler.

This is an embarrassment. I don't think I've ever seen a 6th seed sweep a 3rd seed in the playoffs. The Blazers could easily be up 2-1 right now if Lillard had shown up in games 1 and 2. He shot 6-23 in game 1 and Blazers lost by just 2. In game 2, his team lost by 9 with him shooting 7-18, scoring only 17 points.

His watch must be broke, cause I haven't seen any Dame Time moments so far in the playoffs. He should be ashamed of himself for letting his team and fans down this much.

Lillard has traits of all the best PG's in the league but it seems his biggest weakness is creativity and playmaking and at times godawful decision making.

Seeding don' t mean much this year given how close teams 3-8 were in the W/L column. Portland in no way can be seen as a legit 3rd seed

and Pels are gelling at the perfect time too

Would the Pels be better with Boogie now, or do you all think that Boogie would mess up their flow?

agaist Portland, i guess Boogie would make no difference IMO. Maybe not having him allow Rondo and Holiday to hold the ball more and be more assertive in their play. Off-the ball Rondo would be less effective and would even be less inclined to do the dirty work he is currently doing on Lillard/Mccullum

Against the W's...well.. team able to play them usually have a strong interior presence on offense. Thing is, would a Boogie/Davis combo be mobile enough for one of them to defend till the 3 pt line? Warriors really are a matchup nightmare! I'd say Pels would be less efficient, but time will tell i guess

jayfan

If the Pels next opponent was Houston instead of GS, and they continued to play like this, would they have a shot?

I think Pels would take it. But GS is too much.

Blazers are in a bad spot because of 2 bad contracts and a kind of bad one in Harkless.

The Turner and Leonard contracts are brutal, but maybe the could dump them on the Nets by attaching a pick. Something like:

Turner / Leonard / Blazers first rounder next year (unprotected) for Carroll / Lin.

Then maybe the Bucks would want CJ to add something attractive for Giannis.

Something like CJ for Middleton / Brogdon / salary.

Not sure CJ's trade value.

Bucks aren't gonna trade Giannis but I'd do that in a heartbeat. I'd probably take Middleton for CJ. The Blazers need a shooting guard over 6-5. All their guards are small.

I think they can get away with Lillard's mediocre defense if they have 4 guys that are solid defenders and long. CJ and Lillard just let way too many guys get by them. It's too much.

I think you misunderstood my proposal.

It was CJ going to the Bucks to join Giannis.

It was CJ for Middleton and Brogdon essentially....and then flipping Turner / Leonard with an unprotected first for next year...or only top 3 protected or something like that....for Carroll / Lin.

And I do think moves like that would make them considerably better ultimately.

:biggums: Khris Middleton is arguably better than CJ, and you want the Bucks to add one of their best young prospects in Brogdon too? A 6'3 SG that plays no defense isn't worth that much.

Yea.

I'm just throwing it out there. I don't know the value of CJ. I agree with your take above and that is why I thought it would be good for the Blazers obviously.

The reason I included Brogdon is that I thought perhaps the Bucks might want to get something for him now if they don't want to match offers for him after next season.

Maybe the Bucks could dump a contract as well.

Something like;

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y8jxqw3b

But, yea, I just don't know the value of CJ. I'm pretty agnostic about how good he is.

In terms of contracts though...getting CJ for his prime locked in through 2021 for a franchise trying to keep Giannis could be pretty good.

Middleton can opt out after next year (he will) and Brogdon's contract is up. Dumping Henson in the process...I kind of like it the more I think about it.

Then I'd trade Bledsoe and really just kind of clear the books and build around CJ/Giannis/Maker and maybe Parker depending on a few things.

Agree.

I think he'll be really quite good by playoff time next year.

Assuming the Blazers don't turn this around...other changes to the roster need to be coming.

Just stinks because the Turner / Leonard / Harkless contracts really prevent any changes unless they move Lillard or CJ.

And they might need to move CJ...certainly looks like so far in this series.

Not saying Pelicans are better without Boogie but man, the offense just flows better without 2 bigs clogging the paint.
They didn't even clog the paint. The strength of their tandem is that they could both very easily go outside. Their spacing was perfect and they are both so ridiculously good that Cousins was throwing lobs from the top of the key to Davis at the rim.

Hence their one and only rule: one center in the paint at the time. Worked ideal, as Davis usually rim runned after rebounds, whereas Cousins would ''jog'' up the court. Meaning Davis could get a deep post up in early offense, or Cousins would have a wide open 3. Cousins would even lead the break himself at times. Wasn't a problem if they wanted to give Cousins some post ups either, as they could very easily switch roles. They got so out of hand that at times they would run a P&R with Cousins handling the ball. That's how good they are and why they worked.

I hope Cousins re-signs with New Orleans, they were so fun to watch together.

"After Feb. 1, they closed the regular season with a 103.4 defensive rating, ranking No. 4 in the NBA. Before then, they had a 107 defensive rating (No. 23 in the NBA)."

Cousins is a free agent so it would have to be a sign and trade.

And given the injury...I'm not sure anyone is really giving up much.

Maybe the Wizards, depending on how things go the rest of this series, might be willing to do something like Porter / Gortat if they are willing to risk the salary given they are already all-in with Wall.

Otto Porter would be a great fit on many teams, but man...he'd be damn near perfect next to Davis and Jrue.

"After Feb. 1, they closed the regular season with a 103.4 defensive rating, ranking No. 4 in the NBA. Before then, they had a 107 defensive rating (No. 23 in the NBA)."

So for 2/3s of the season they were in the bottom 1/3.... the last two months (when many teams were actively/aggressively tanking) they jumped to Top 5.

Hhmm so basicaly since boogie went down? Last year they were a top 5 defense too before trading for boogie.

Like i said multiple time, pels are better on BOTH ends of the floor without cousins. need to sign & trade him for shooter and a 3

Damn. I figured New Orleans would win but never predicted a sweep

This team is scary with Niko stretching the floor. They should absolutely trade Cousins and bring in more shooters.

they should keep cousins. AD + cousins could win a title next year

yup...cousins is the defintion of empty stats... awful efficiency on big volume, no defense, and poor intanigbles...theyre much better just spreading his possesions amongst other guys.

Otto Porter would be a great fit on many teams, but man...he'd be damn near perfect next to Davis and Jrue.

porter would be the perfect piece for them. Dude's skillset match perfectly with the pelicans needs. DMC for otto porter, get it done Demps:rockon:

Rondo
Holiday
Porter
Mirotic
Davis
:applause: Won't make much a difference against GSW or HOU but will give them a better chance .

Damian "Regular Season" Lillard: 19/5/5 + 4 TOs on 35% shooting :oldlol:

Pretty good considering their defense sold out on him. You got three of the best defenders traping you all series that's amazing. Rondo Holiday, and Davis were scared of him lol.

Props to the Pelicans. Their defense worked because Blazers role players couldn't knock down open 3s. Blazers needed Collins to hit a few open 3s and they probably win game 1 and 2. That's the difference.

Pelicans are a very good team though. They were just better in every way this series.

Issue here Portland is the first top3 team since the switch to the 4/7 R1 format to get swept in the 1st round, which is a little less amazing.

Blazers lost simply because their D was suspect, Lillard merely ensured it was in 4.

That's funny . Shooting 35 percent is pretty good because the defense was tough. You've got low standards. I bet you think people from the ghetto that do no better with their lives than working at McDonald's did pretty good because they were raised in tough environments. Losers mentality.
