I can be a guest guitarist when you're playing a piece that requires a classical guitar.

I guess I'd be pretty useless.

if you can play classical guitar very well, you can play anything else easily.

It's more fun for me that's why I play it. Although I do enjoy the electrical.

It's not gay at all.

Ya, I USED to think it was. Because i was like "ya ya ya nirvana, incubus, RHCP yayayaya pearl jam grunge core hard core yayayaya **** all other music yayayaya"

Now of course im still like that but replace every band mentioned with Oasis and you got it.

It's a whole other art though. You have to use that stool so its easier to pluck strings and stuff.

I totally missed the that stage.

I mean I love Nirvana and like some songs from those other bands, but never really got into it like most kids around that time. As for what I really was obsessed with, it was rap and then metal/classic rock. 90's rock was just a hodge podge of artists with good songs here and there.

And you don't have to use a stool. Did you see the guy on America's Got Talent?

Ry wins.
I dont know about that, but ry cooder is one of my favorites as well. Have you heard that "double" album of him and taj mahal from the 60s.... rising sons I think its called. Plus all his world music of the last 2 decades, and all his studio work. hes a beast, but duane beats him IMO. throw in jerry douglas (have you heard his album from 2005, mostly lap steel rather than dobro?) and I am in slide heaven. but really, I love pretty much all slide work.

LJJ
03-30-2009, 12:01 PM
I think I actually made a post on the Rising Sons in the "what are you listening" thread last week or something.

On one hand it's a pretty great album, but half the tracks (Statesboro blues, Corrina, Diving Duck Blues, Dust My Broom) were done again by Taj Mahal solo a few years later (With Cooder in the recording band on most tracks though, I believe), and he did them better I'd say.

I only have one Jerry Douglas record, which is Skip Hop. Pretty amazing.
