why don't more players, especially rebounding bigs have this skillset? Look at how effective larry legend aka larry brady (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48EJZZFLmVM) is with this technique. doesn't allow the defense to set. easy baskets. lightning quick one-legged inbounds passes are a thing of beauty.
pretty much only the big fundamental and kev dude love have this ability from players i've seen in the past 15 years or so.
what's up with that? :confusedshrug:

They look great on a gif when they work out, but they probably lead to a lot of turnovers if done with regularity.

or just catching the defense slipping.
one huge overlooked facet is natural born hand-eye coordination. guess you can't teach that. either you have it or you don't.
bird clearly had it. love clearly has it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdIpjM5bnlg), hence why they can risk tossing full court bombs. they have the accuracy to do so. probably can't rely on a big who can't shoot 60% from the ft line to have the hand-eye ability to get the ball full court to a moving target with defense draped all over them.

The Warriors do similar passes pretty frequently. Don't know why you'd think it is rare.

Bird had numerous HOF teammates to catch outlets.
Love had the GOAT.
Not every franchise is so lucky.

Wes Unseld was the best outlet passer of the 70s. Kevin’s dad played with him....which is why Kevin Loves middle name is Wesley and why he learned that outlet pass. His dad showed him clips of Wes.

It's your loss if you don't want to watch one of the best teams ever especially in transition.
I don't have a collection of them on hand but this was from last night's game:

Draymond also makes similar passes now and then. Which reminds me of this one you probably already saw:

The Raps throw the ball down court ahead of the defense quite a bit considering how infrequently you do see it overall.
Lowry to Siakam is fun to watch.

Part of this is due to changes in how the game is played today. Teams no longer try for offensive rebounds anywhere close to as much as they did in years past. Instead, as soon as the shot goes up, at least four if not all five players are hustling back to get their defense set. This makes the long pass much more difficult, and if you do make the pass its more likely there are two or more defenders in position to stop the guy who received the pass.

Don't know why you are reacting to my post. It's the OP suggesting the full court pass is a lost art not me. I mainly watch the Warriors and see them do similar passes often. If other teams do so too others are free to point it out as they have.
More of a half court pass from last night but you see similar from the Warriors every other game as well:
