View Full Version : Aight.. if money wasn't an issue, where would you want to live

You can choose anywhere in the world. Where would you live and why??

I really loved Rome. But it's too hot and how many times can you go to the Coliseum before it becomes just another building? How many times can you go to the Trevi fountain before you ignore that part of the city? Besides, it's too hot.

Really loved Amalfi Coast. But I was getting bored after a week.

Paris? meh.. overrated.

Greece? too hot, might get bored.

Montreal... nice to visit but the weather, f*ck the weather and outside of Naples one of the worst streets to drive in.

I love Mexico City, but it's tooooooooo crowded.

Miami? too small, too hot, overrated.

I will live in my hometown, the city that I was born and raised, the best city in the world.

Los Angeles

Almost perfect weather year round.
There is no way you can get bored.
You have world class entertainment, food, museums, shopping, sports, etc.

You have Amazon delivering to you within the hour!!!

There would be almost nothing that you would need or want that you can't get or do.

You can go to the mountains and to the beach in the same day (within 1.5 hour drive from each other). We've gone to Big Bear then head down to the beach the same afternoon.

You got Disney, Knott's, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain.

Go look at the events happening this weekend and there's too many. And then there's events that aren't listed (the good ones). On any given night you can find your fav comedians doing a set at the Comedy Store. You can go to a Q&A with your fav tv show's cast, you can go to a club on Sunset on a random night and watch Grohl jam with Reznor or Homme. Head down to Fairfax and casually bump into your fav rapper shopping.

Say what you want about LA doubt there's any place like it in the world.

South beach Miami. Honestly been there twice and there’s nothing better.

I would consider Copenhagen, San Sebastian, Porto, and a few cities in New Zealand and Chile... but ultimately I would probably end up wanting to stay right where I am in the Pacific NW.

How much money are we talking about here? Ride helicopter everywhere type of money?

Anyways, Japan is nice.

Not sure about money, say 30 Mill? Just throwing out random numbers

Sure your money can go a lot further in other countries, but do you have the same access to basically almost everything as you would in LA???

If you have enough money to not worry about the California's crazy high taxes, isolate yourself from the peons around you and their crime, values and culture, then LA is definitely attractive. Not sure exactly yet where I would want to spend my time during the winter months, I definitely wouldn't mind spending October and November in Newport Beach or San Diego (spending Christmas time in California just seems wrong though). I would definitely want to spend the warmer months near a small town in Montana on a ranch...if money wasn't an issue.

Amazon Prime isn't the same as getting shit delivered within the hour. And it's not the deciding factor, it's just a perk.

It's about convenience mannnn... aint nobody trying to wait 2-4 days for an HDMI cable that I need NOW!

On the real tho, I've had exotic foods delivered to me along with rolls of Bounty paper rolls within an hour of placing the order. F*cking AMAZING!!! and I lived behind a Stater Bros at the time. I was getting freshly baked goods from top bakers, fresh kiwis and meat from the Farmer's Market within the hour. Didn't have to leave my home.

Saw a great price on an amazing monitor so I ordered one, got it the next day but I needed a special cable to connect it to my MacBook. Either spend triple the price at the Apple Store or buy one for change on Monoprice and have it dropped off in an hour... Monoprice it is

Can't do that shit in Montreal homes. :pimp:

Matter of fact, I don't have 80% of the shit I want available in Canada. Same goes for Europe and Im sure everywhere else in the world.

Convenience.

Whoa that's a tough choice, been to so many amazing places but actually choosing one to live would be tough..

Id pick somewhere in Europe, cause you can visit tons of places with only short plane/train ride.. great food and lifestyle.. very dependant on season though.
Lausanne was beautiful, could easily live there.
Paris, Lisbon, Split, Santorini hmmm

Out of Asia I'd pick Japan easily.

And whoever mentioned LA traffic you're spot on. I've been a few times and it just seems to get worse each time.

Don't be brainwashed by a snowy Christmas.

Aint nothing better than waking up and enjoying the beautiful weather on Christmas morning, snow is extremely overrated.

I feel bad for kids here in Canada and other snowy places. They can't go out and play with their new toys. I see kids on the bus f*cking up their new Concords in the snow cause they want to wear them so badly.

I agree that Europe is great to visit and on all the points you hinted at. But then you start to miss all of the conveniences and privileges that come with living in the States.

Im speaking first hand here.

It may seem trivial to some of you, but it becomes frustrating and annoying when you gotta jump through hoops to watch certain content on YouTube or Reddit because it's not available in your country (experience it all the time here in Canada and experienced it in Europe). Netflix overseas is GARBAGE when compared to the American version.

You just saw some dope shit online... guess what? it aint available in your country :rant

Or you gotta pay triple the price to get it :banghead:

It's small shit like that which will begin to annoy and frustrate as time goes on.

You'll be looking forward to Def Leppard coming to town as your entertainment options are extremely limited. An REO Speedwagon concert will be the highlight of your summer as visiting the Eiffel Tower loses it's luster and going to the jungles in Thailand is a chore.

i would say LA is in my top 3. but honestly, if i were rich enough, i'd have multiple homes.

i take road trips to LA almost every year, absolutely love it. LA women are easily some of the most beautiful women in the states. the food is the absolute best (not just mexican food either, ALL TYPES). weather is perfect year round, that has to be my biggest draw.

Cali is also underrated for it's environment:
a paradise called Yosemite

then 2hrs away from yosemite, you can literally go walk amongst the giants at Sequoia park:

i've visited both twice, just amazing.

LA might be my ideal home city https://i.postimg.cc/SNH7Tnrr/8ed0ce940eb512d3287f45d5ffe6f6bc.png

https://i.postimg.cc/fy6YkPqd/6zc8Apn.jpg

yeah Im not debating that.

But do you have everything available? and at what cost?

Can they even deliver to that area and how long does it take to get there? then it spends lord knows how long in customs (you can't track it when it's in customs). Then there's 'conversion' to your money whether it's pesos, CAD, Euro, etc. What was $25 American and deliverable to you in 24 hours is now $50 (at least) and will take almost 2 weeks... IF they even deliver to your area.

I know that's the case here in Canada, Europe and Mexico.

Even then, not all American cities deliver within the same day (not for a crazy fee) let alone the hour.

Amazon has warehouses in LA, most companies have their home in LA area so you can get shit within the hour for a basic fee (or free).

So... some of you think Im crazy.

Say you have issues with your car? your A/C gets busted and need a part to fix it. You're renovating your kitchen and need certain tiles? Guess where many of those warehouses are located?:D

So sure, an exotic place would be nice but soon you'll miss the conveniences of living in the States and the conveniences of living in LA.

Just saying :pimp:

Brainwashed? :hammerhead:

Apart from the wanting to see white outside and, green and red lights everywhere, people upbeat and cheery, Christmas songs playing everywhere, churches and carrolling echoing at night during Christmas, do they even celebrate Christmas in LA anymore? :oldlol:

i actually like to stay where i am. and it's not a "my country is better than your country" type of thing. i'm just used to everything here and don't need big drastic changes.

however, i do enjoy travel. but that's just to get a taste of other cultures or try new experiences. but when i visit those places, it's only interesting to visit, but i could not live there permanently. shit, sometimes, 4 days or 5 days is enough for me. then i come back and have a greater appreciation for home.

This. I love having things to do even after 10PM... and not just drinking since I don't drink :lol

The only thing I miss is a beach, sure it's 90 mins away which isn't that far... but that's not convenient. You have to make a whole day out of it.
I'd love to go chill there for an hour or 2 every day in the summer or even spring after work.
