View Full Version : Lebron played in the hardest era for triple doubles

League-wide assists from 03 to 15 were down by 3 per game compared to both the 90s and '16-'18 (they were even higher in the 70s and 80s).

Total rebounds were also as low as they'd ever been from 04-12.

Defenses were simply harder to get shots off against, and harder to make plays against. That's why the league has neutered defense in the last couple years. It simply became too good.

And yet Lebron James is sixth all-time in triple doubles, and the only one in the top 10 to play his prime exclusively during "the dark ages" of statistics. And he could have had far more if he ever played with teammates that could shoot (which he typically didnt) and if he cared about stat padding the way some other guys do (he doesn't).

Just let that sink in for a minute.

How do rebounding and assist stats make it harder to get a shot off?

And btw, lebron's best playoff stats are 16-18', so if we can eliminate that due to rule changes then lebron is even further back from mj than we thought
