View Full Version : Remember when LeBron beat the 60 win Hawks with 4-all stars by himself back in 2015?

Imo that upset was almost as big as the 73 win Warriors upset in 2016
60 win Hawks had HCA and 4-all stars
Cavs just had LeBron and no Kevin Love and no Kyrie due to injuries
And LeBron still managed to beat them
So why couldn’t Jordan beat the 4 all-star Celtics back in 1986??
He was in the same situation as LeBron, by himself facing a 4 all star juggernaut

That Atlanta team may very well be the biggest pretender in professional sports history.
Nothing about them scared anyone. The fact that their success transpired in one of the most pitiful conferences in league history is also noteworthy.
The current Raptors, Celtics, Nuggets and 6ers would eat them.

everyone knew the Hawks were a one-off... teague and korver were 1-time all-star.. So they really had 2 all-star caliber players (milsap/horboss).... And Klay had just become an all-star in 15', so the warriors weren't even a super-team.. the Cavs were the only team with an established big 3

lemicrosoft does not respect anti-trust laws and absorbs anything he views as a threat or competition.
couldn't lead his squad to a ring ala wade, so he joined wade (and brought a third franchise player with him).
poached jesus from the boston big 3.
stole korver from the hawks.
colluded with isaiah thomas after he had a 29ppg season and led bos to the ecf.
can't wait to see what he's got cooked up for his time in the west.

Wow your seriously comparing the 15 Hawks to that championship Celtics team? And even if your point is valid all your doing is just proving how much better the NBA was back then. Especially the east. One 60 win team had 4 all stars that not only won multiple chips but we're also Hof's. The other 60 win team had 4 all stars that won't even sniff the Hof and never even made a finals. So either your comparison is a joke or LeBron's top competition in the east is. Either way you lose
Actually it shows the opposite. It shows how strong the league is that even with 4 all stars your team can still be beat. As to why Golden State stacked the deck with an all time starting five line up filled with future HOF's.
The level of competition in the league due to all the skill and athleticism is so vastly superior to that of the 90's it's not even funny anymore. People who really try to make that comparison are pathetic. Nobody's stopping AD, nobody's stopping Giannis, nobody stopping Steph and Harden with their 3 point barrages, nobody sniffing KD and nobody sniffing Lebron. This league is so stacked with talent that every week we have a new MVP caliber player. In the 90's it was only Jordan and not because he was the greatest of all time. The level of competition around him was just vastly inferior.
There's a reason that era is known as the expansion era.

It's not, except for three point shooting and some better dribbling with more relaxed rules. But certainly not on the athleticism front.
Actually it shows the opposite. It shows how strong the league is that even with 4 all stars your team can still be beat.
Give me a break. The Hawks weren't that great of team. They didn't have a single superstar, and they never repeated that kind of success. The East was also weak.
Nobody's stopping AD, nobody's stopping Giannis, nobody stopping Steph and Harden with their 3 point barrages, nobody sniffing KD and nobody sniffing Lebron.
It's like Hakeem, Shaq, Karl Malone, Barkley, David Robinson, Penny Hardaway, Pippen, Kemp, Payton, etc. didn't exist in the 90s.
There are great, "unstoppable" players in any era.
The level of competition around him was just vastly inferior.
Jordan would wreck this era too, with all its spacing, lack of rim protection, and rules favoring perimeter players. Westbrook has led the league in scoring twice and won an MVP while being a poor shooter.
Anyway, literally nobody except OP (who's trolling) believes the 2015 Hawks were a better team than the 86 Celtics.

There's a reason that era is known as the expansion era.
The evolution of skill and athleticism since the 90's is heavily exaggerated. Let's look at the top playoff teams in this era. The warriors, rockets, raps and bucks are the best teams in the NBA and there not crazy athletic. They're no more athletic then than The 90's warriors, spurs, Orlando, rockets and Sonic's playoff teams. Shaqs and penny Orlando team is more athletic than any east team now. That team would be hands down the best team in the east if you put them in this era.
And AD and Gianni's would be centers in the 90's or vice versa and neither would better than Robinson, shaq or Hakeem. And Lol at harden or curry having anything close to the same impact in an era where defences where actually allowed to play real physical defence. Durant would still be a beast but he's a mental midget compared to mj. Mj was also much more skilled than him or anyone else you mentioned and would still dominate this era. The bulls were Taylormade to beat the warriors even with kd. If Houston can do what they did last year defensively to the warriors what do you think the bulls with 3 of the best defenders ever would do? Oh and mj averaged 37 points a game before the "expansion era" even started. The only reason he wasn't winning chips was because pip was still a pup and he didn't have Phil jackson
