First row for each player; regular season numbers
2nd row; the playoffs numbers
3rd row; the playoffs numbers after first round which was a cake walk for them except Shaq who faced elimination game in '00 / just to put it in context more about when things get tough.

*: Hakeem was also DPoY. That mark is there for it.

Factoring in both regular season and playoffs

'80 Kareem
'83 Moses
'84/'86 Bird
'87 Magic
'94 Hakeem
'00 Shaq
'03 Duncan
'12/'13 LeBron

And you could probably add like 4-6 seasons from Jordan

you think lebrons 2013 was even close to being comparable to 2012?

he bricked every shot beyond 5 feet for 6 straight games against sanantonio and lost the series before ray allens bail out. game 7 was his first good finals game

2012 was his only impressive finals and the only choice ( a lockout colluded super team voided ring ) ...but his best none the less

btw give me kobe 2001

carried shaq through the next top 3 teams in the league and gifted him finals MVP to make the big baby happy after kobe averaged a jordanesq 32/7/6/2 on 50% shooting for the first 3 rounds ( 29/7/6/2 on 49% for the entire playoffs )

lakers playoff win shares leader ( don't care but people say its nice )

all time record 15-1 playoff run

near back 2 back 50 point playoff games

greatest team ever

greatest playoff run ever

greatest 22 year old ever

out performed PEAK MDE SHAQ

Leaving MJ out of this, I would give it to Hakeem 1993-94. Dude won MVP, DPOY and FMVP. The only player to EVER do that in a single season (Russell definitely would've had a few had they handed out DPOY and FMVP in his days). Plus, he had a lot of very good role players but no legit 2nd fiddle star that year too.

That's a pretty good choice, but wouldn't you have to at least mention 99-00 Shaq despite the fact that he played near the basket all the time.

There's no right or wrong answer. But I take Hakeem because he didn't have a Kobe as a 2nd option and he freaken won DPOY. Consider the LOAD he had to carry on both ends.

In that particular season Shaq blacked out entire painted area though. He was a freaking monster on defensive end, too. He was 2nd at DPoY vote, behind Zo and he got no reputation as a defensive force. If he did, there was a good chance for him to be the DPoY.

I find being the first unanimous MVP (despite that idiot who voted for AI from Atlanta, I consider Shaq UMVP) & FMVP is just as sexy as MVP & DPoY & FMVP.

Like you said, there's no wrong answer though. Just pointing out.
