The lakers losing would've legitimized it for the Cavs like the Heat's to Dallas did. The Lakers won and so it remains a big wtf moment and it robbed us all if the Lebron/Kobe finals.

2 prime future hall of famers? ( chauncey/big ben )

2 other prime boarderline future hall of famers? ( rip and sheed )

1 arguable GOAT coach? ( the great larry brown )

lakers had 4 hall of famers but 2 of them were finished... another was 50 pounds overweight and the other was coming off shoulder/knee surgery that killed his athleticism

Yeah a real big joke losing to one of the most vet savvy and well coached teams in this millennium.

I get that you're trying to play the back and forth jab for jab bit that ISH is known for but my goodness kid. Your posts are continuously more stale than your grandmother's panties.

Step your shit up.

The stars aligned for that Dallas team and nobody saw it coming. Dirk was also too nasty that year. Nothing was stopping him.

You do realize that fans bet that line up & this was 2004, how many people were bandwagon Laker fans at that point & how many actually knew about the Pistons, other than people in Detroit?

Pistons only had Sheed starting for 21 games and were 17 - 4 or a 65-win pace in those games with 12 out of 21 being on the road.

They were all established players by that point. Sheed's Blazers gave the 2000 Lakers the fight of their life with them being up 13 pts in the 4th quarter of a Game 7. Wallace was already an all-star and 2x DPOY, Hamilton was already an established 17-20 ppg scorer. Billups broke out that same Regular Season. They were coached by one of the GOAT coaches.

But somehow that team composed of journeymen

Billups was considered a bust before Detroit, five teams in five years.
Ben Wallace was a nobody before Detroit.
Sheed was traded twice in that season alone.

????

Ben Wallace was a 2x DPOY and an all-star
Sheed was a multiple time all-star
Billups put up 17/6 that season
Rip was an established scorer
Larry Brown was already a legend

tf you mean?

First it's "team is composed of journeymen"
now it's "they were nobody before Detroit"

:biggums: :biggums: :biggums:

Pistons were already an established 50-win team that had made the ECF the previous year.

Yes, such a great team that Lakers were -700 favorites.

"In the epitome of team-ball over star power, the Pistons would become one of the most unlikely champions when they defeated a Los Angeles Lakers team sporting four future Hall of Famers 4-1 in the 2004 Finals. The victory is considered one of the greatest upsets in U.S. pro sports history."
