Notice at 5:03 how pippen says that MJ generally didn't bring the ball up... and when he did, "we were sharing it" pippen says, i.e. they were running offense, not just iso'ing and making the play all by himself like harden, lebron, westbrook and today's ball-dominator era.... thus padding all stat categories (points, assists)

People give lebron props for bringing the ball up and tossing a dime to a teammate, but he's really just replacing ball movement with iso ball-domination, thus making it harder to win

Tmac was one of the first ball hogs. He brought the ball up.

That era, the early 00s, was the emergence of players who would bring the ball up, then iso, without teammates touching the ball. Iso in the 90s was different, it was initiated by a set play.

I agree with everything you said, but tmac still didn't dominate the ball like today's players with their dribble-intensive offenses D'Antoni-ball)

Today's ball-domination is in another dimension from 15 years ago.. And in effect - ball-domination IS iso'ing

And the annoying thing about the clip is that Rachel Nichols scoffs at pippen and tmac as if they don't know what they're talking about.. (after all, she talked to Nick wright, kblaze, flpiii or somebody like that who schooled her that the 80's were all isos.. that's literally how she got the idea that today's ball-dominant era somehow isos LESS than the non-ball-dominant eras)

Pippem admits the record books need to be rewritten because defense has been thrown in the trash and players are more intent to dominate the ball in order to get stats (among other things)...but elsewhere props up LeBron James because of his stats. :wtf: We're not having an honest discussion here.

The D'Antoni revolution; if your main ball handler is skilled and intelligent enough he can destroy a defense with pick and rolls. All allowable due to no hand checking.

It's taken these guys years to realize what's happened with the game.. I don't think pippen will be propping up lebron anymore

Now that harden has scored more prolifically in some ways than MJ, it's setting in that "wait a minute, something's different here... Oh yeah, look how much everyone dominates the ball. We never got to do that.."

They're just now realizing this shit.. it took pippen seeing harden - a guy that he knows can't touch MJ - scoring more than mj to fully realize that the game has changed

and overall, it's taken the media years to realize the changes happening in the game... i.e. only after the IT debacle last year, did the mainstream media talk about lebron as a ball-dominator that didn't fit with other guys who needed to dominate the ball - that conversation wasn't common knowledge in the mainstream media until after the IT debacle

But we've been talking about all this shit on forums since at least 2012 - i.e. how it's much easier for ball-handlers today, and that lebron doesn't fit with other guys that need to dominate the ball
