In taking more threes than twos.
.352 X 3 = 1.059
.549 X 2 = 1.098
They're the only team in the league who average more threes than twos. Every other team takes at least 14 more twos.
A while back someone said there's a limit to how many threes would make for an effective offense. I wonder if the Rockets are around that limit, for today's game.

Taking 70 3’s a game is inefficient? Ground breaking analysis.

You don't think their two point percentage is inflated because of how well they space the floor with threes? Please.

The rockets twos arent normal twos though are they? With their emphasis on layups and threes id have to imagine they shoot a relatively high number of really good 2s which might bump up the percentages compared to what it would be if they played more normal ball.

But do they need to take that many to provide spacing? No other team shoots more threes than twos.
I hate all of you. I really do. lol.
Did you see end of regulation of Lakers/Thunder where the ball was inbounded to the corner and Kuzma takes a heavily contested fallaway three, even though they had time to run a play and get a better look at the basket when there was no need to take a three?
Or when the Rockets were down by 1 at the end of OT and they take a three.
Or when dudes come down on the break and jack a contested three with no rebounders. Or when Harden dribbles down the shot clock while everyone else stands around just to take a step back three?
Do you think that's good basketball to watch?

Yes, but it's that the Rockets are the only team taking more threes than twos.
The Bucks average the second most threes. But they get a lot more twos, and at a higher percentage than the Rockets.

What’s crazy is they have the same number of wins as the Lakers, even with Lebron having missed nearly 4 weeks (and the Lakers worsening their win% as a result.)
Just let that sink in for a sec.
Lebron himself is as efficient and effective as this record breaking Rockets TEAM.
Amazing.

It's about attempts. So even with the lower %'s, they take (and make) so many that they eventually make up for it in the end.
It might not be aesthetically pleasing, but it's smart. Eliminate as many midrange jumpers (not an efficient shot) as possible and replace them with threes.
Even if you miss alot of them, the extra point you get when you make them will pay off.
