View Full Version : James Harden 70+ point watch

imdaman99

Has 36 at halftime. Harden started hot and could have put the game away early. So naturally Dantoni takes him out to make sure the Knicks can get a double digit lead, ensuring Harden will play all 4 quarters. Plus, the Knicks have bad defense outside of Frank, so let's face it... Harden is gonna break the Garden record held by Melo (62).

Dude is ballin, abusing everyone on the Knicks. It doesn't help that the Rockets will pick his man to death up until he gets who he wants on him :lol but that's part of the game now.

That's a pretty lame excuse for the team shooting that poorly. If you were watching the game, you'd see that the players are missing some easy, wide-open shots.

I don't like the Rockets style and how Harden is able to exploit going to the line. I've complained about both on various occasions.

That being said, I'm a stat whore and get excited when a player goes on a tear like Harden has, regardless.

Also, Harden is extremely skilled even if one doesn't like his style of play. I do admire his handles and quickness. And he has a good shot.

I guess this guy, apart from his 30 point streak, will try to finish the season without having scored a single assisted point for his last 50 or so games (team spirit first).
Btw, he's now scored in the season just 27 points less than the minutes he's played. I think he's aware of it, as well.

That's the thing, though. They aren't THAT similar. Because of the amount of 3's that Harden takes, his effective field goal and shooting percentages are going to be higher. You might call him a chucker - and to an extent,he is - but it's not as though he's chucking at an inefficient rate ala Westbrook, Kobe, and Iverson. If you can score at the rate that Harden does (especially with the injuries his team has), why wouldn't you shoot more?

You're 2nd paragraph is exactly the point i was trying to make. The edge in efficiency is what separates him from the Iversons and Kobes of the world.

For his entire prime, Kobe roughly shot the same TS% as 1996-98 Jordan. Neither were "inefficient".

And no. The reason people dislike Harden's game is because of the way he's officiated. Coupled with the fact he shrinks in the playoffs.

You'd either have to be a Rockets fan or a simpleton to enjoy his play.

Kobe's prime took place when handchecking was removed and therefore free throws were raising his ts%. Jordan's 1996-1998 (33 to 35 years old) took place in the toughest era defensively. There's nothing similar about them.

The this thread, incidently, is about Harden. He is already a much better scorer than Kobe ever was.

Wrong.

Kobe competed in a league before handchecking was banned. The last year before it was officially removed? 2004.

Harden is also the beneficiary of soft rules. Prior to the season, the league instated 'freedom of movement' giving perimeter players more reign to operate.

Wrong. Kobe's "prime" which is what you refetenced took place after handchecking was removed. Those are the seasons in which his scoring suddenly shot up from 27ppg to 35 ppg and then 31 ppg.
