It's amazing how many people try to be Curry.

What they don't realize is Curry is about 3 tiers above every other "best shooter in history"

The Curry effect (on other teams)

If you're shooting 24% from three, you probably shouldn't take 5 a game. His TS% is 48 this season, which is worse than his rookie year.

That's worse than Lonzo. :facepalm

i think 33% is the cut off

since it equates to 50% on 2's

he's shooting 24% however

James Harden is shooting 37% on 13.3 attempts per game.

There are only 4 seasons in the history of the NBA with 10+ 3PA:

Harden 17-18: 10.0 on 37%
Harden 18-19: 13.3 on 37%

Curry 15-16: 11.2 on 45%
Curry 18-19: 11.7 on 45%

Curry of course much more efficient.

Looking forward 5 years from now when the leagues is full of dudes taking 10+ threes a game.

Larry Bird averaged only 3.3 attempts at his peak, and he could actually shoot!

Westbrook is chucking it up 4.8 times a game in 2019, and might be the worst shooter ever.

Good point, I always look at it like this

6/10 (2 pointers) = 60%, 12 points
4/10 (3 pointers) = 40%, 12 points

Essentially 60% FG is close to 40% 3P

It's dynamic. 2/3 of your team's overall FG% and it's alright.

40% from 3pt is exactly equivalent to 60% from 2pt when analyzed in isolation...

I'd say 60% from 2pt might be slightly better because if you're driving to the basket there is a higher chance of getting fouled so there is more possibility of extra points from the foul line plus you're getting opposition in foul trouble. On the other hand missed 3pt do result in more offensive rebounds. I'd like to see an analysis for this.

Yeah for numbers sake obviously identical as a percentage but usually players don't get the same # of shots from 3 as 2. And then of course you have to account for the fact that hardly anyone shoots 60% from the field anyway but yes great points all around my dude
