Lakers with Shaq/No Kobe: 36-8

Lakers with Kobe/No Shaq: 53-45

Crazy, LA was a 60 win pace team with Shaq while Kobe was out. Meanwhile barely a fringe .500 team led by Kobe while Shaq was down.

Amazing impact of a Top 10 player that Shaq was, simply unprecedented

Lakers simply couldn't orchestrate w/o him because the team was hand picked and built around Shaq

Spot up role players like Kobe simply didn't know how to dribble without Shaq.

Thank you for this post--what a great way to show the impact of a team's main player! I was looking for other noteworthy examples and came across a LeBron James fellow whom has drug the worst of the worst to the Finals, despite fighting with a shit cast. This may come as no surprise to you, but as soon as he leaves the team plummets.

I've also heard of this Michael Jordan fellow, who left his 57 win team in 1993 only to have the team win 55 games the very next season WITHOUT him. I promise I am not making this up. I wonder if there has ever been a #1 option with a lower impact than Michael Jordan? A two-win drop off. Most wouldn't even believe me unless they Google'd it for themselves.

If anyone wants to talk about heavily favored pre-season Finals favorites Pau's Lakers, feel free making a new thread.

why would i list the years shaq played with an all nba/all defensive all time histrically great kobe bryant saving shaq from failure in game 7 of the 2000 WCF or game 4 of the nba finals... then averaging 29/7/6 for the 2001 playoffs and 28/6/5 for the 2002 playoffs

i thought this thread was to showcase how shaq didn't need kobe

If regular season impact / wins meant anything.

Lebron wouldn't have 6 finals losses
CP3 wouldn't have 1 conference finals appearance
