I should note that my grand uncle was, at one time, the highest ranking police officer in Washington DC so I grew up around the po po, who I think have a challenging job and often have to deal with the fall out of society's ills

There were still lingering issues in the early to mid 70's. When I was three years old my dad was ran out of a small town because of some remarks he made about the town's deputy. Then a mob of (you guessed it, white people) threatened to burn down our house.

I'm Afro-Canadian and came across this a few years ago...It was unbelievable then but now you can't even be surprised. It's so common place now that many of these white people really believe they are the disenfranchised group.
