View Full Version : Why doesn't the media ever say knockdown shooters are what makes LeBron better?

The media loves to say LeBron makes his teammates better but really LeBron depends heavily on knockdown shooters with good hands that can catch his 50mph bailout passes and elite level of focus to shoot with no time on the clock.

You put a Ray Allen or a Korver or Kyrie (who's also a good ISO player) on his team and the spin is, that he made Ray Allen / Korver or Kyrie better.

But.. when you think about it, didn't Ray Allen and those guys' ability to catch those difficult passes make him better by being able to handle those passes and make big shots shooting with no time on the clock? They kind of prevented a bad play that started in his hands by being so good at making wine out of water didn't they?

Of course you can argue that they need him to shine in those moments sure because they are difficult shot makers, but then at the very least he is co-dependent on these types of players is he not? They like to make big shots and this is a niche they can thrive in... but he needs them to make those big shots for him to win. Right? They should be given a lot more credit as making him better I think. It's not a one way street. What are your thoughts?

Probably because making an open jumper is pretty much the most basic and universal basketball skill their is for a player at this level.

With time on the clock and a catchable pass sure.

Every penetrating guard/forward has committed a bail out pass. Lebron can score. he's a proven 27PPG scorer. He has mass attention on his drives to the lane.

Then you'd be greatly overestimating the amount of times that Lebron throws a difficult pass to the corner with no time on the clock.

In fact, I'd argue that his ability to put the ball right where the shooter needs it to release is one of his strongest skills as a passer.

This is absolutely the case. The reality of the situation is that Bran is extremely dependant on a certain style of teammates/team setup/yes man coaching in order to be even remotely successful. Perhaps the most high maintenance all time great in history. You can't just put any kind of team around Bran and expect him to be able to carry with high octane, ruthless, and a relentless deflating scoring style.

With true all time great scorers like Jordan/Kobe/KD/Curry/Dirk you can physically feel the other team as well as the other team's crowd getting absolutely deflated and having the life sucked out of them every single time the five above made impossible shot after impossible shot after impossible shot. With Bran you just don't have that no matter what the #s say. Bran NEEDS the same mold of team everywhere he goes which is the reason he needs to throw visible tantrums and meltdowns on the court when he feels the team isn't all about him. LeGOAT does not adapt to his team, he needs EVERYONE including the mop boy to adapt to him.

The 4 years prior to playing with LeBron

Wade and Bosh = 0 playoff series wins

The 4 years playing with LeBron

Wade and Bosh = 2 championships and 4 finals appearances

Kyrie and Love prior toplaying with LeBron = 0 playoff appearances

Kyrie and love with LeBron = 4 finals appearances and 1 championship

Also all of those players played the most efficient basketball of their careers next to LeBron

Who cares if you have to adjust to LeBron when it results in going to the finals every single year

Why do you use the arbitrary 4 years before LeBron number?

Change it to 5 and repost your analysis please.

Who cares if you have to adjust to LeBron when it results in going to the finals every single year

Because the drama and job insecurity he brings for every single employee around him just is not worth a 33% chance of going all the way.
