He just needed a chance, after a bad run in Philly and a few injuries..

Hopefully he keeps getting burned and keeps it up because that was a tragic turn for someone as offensively talented as him

While I wish him well, even when he averaged good numbers in philly, the offense was better with him OFF the floor and so was the defense. He

Taking the optimist view, he would have likely improved his game (not his foot speed) but passing, IQ etc. since he played in Philly he's not a 1st or 2nd year player anymore. Hopefully he can find ways to be effective and maybe his advanced numbers these past 5 games won't indicate any huge dropoff for the team. Maybe Gentry is a better coach for him. Lets see what happens there are other players similar who can be effective - Valancunis doesn't have great footspeed either but can still find a way to get burn and be effective despite his defensive shortcomings. Not someone you build around clearly but can help a team

His defense in that Houston game was pretty lackluster for being virtually the biggest guy on the floor at any given time. If Capela was out there it probably would have been lob city over his head.

Small sample size, but I'd love to see him succeed in the league.

He was always too skilled to be a bust.

Only explanation is some mental/social issues or more likely, the horrible franchise of the sixers.

Or the most likely: Embiid is infinitely better than Okafor will ever become, and he checked out after realizing this. His highlight of his career is knocking some Boston fan on his ass.

I always was higher on him than most other Philly fans.

I'm glad he is doing well. Nerlens reviving his career too.

It's called improvement, chocolatethunder. He's BETTER than he was then; he has impact now. Do people not understand the concept of progress? People aren't static systems. Hope he destroys Philly eveytime they play.
