I glanced around and couldnt find this topic in the first few pages though it could just be well hidden in all the endless Lebron talk....

It gets waaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse. Giannis had his little brother get votes....I assume because they didnt read the first name. But plenty player votes have to just be groups of friends voting for themselves or people being funny.

For example:

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2019-nba-all-star-game-starters-here-are-the-most-absurd-players-to-receive-votes-from-their-peers/

DeMarcus Cousins (13 votes) -- played in his third game of the season on Thursday night
Carmelo Anthony (7) -- played in 10 games this season
Boban Marjanovic (4) -- 6.6 points per game in 10.3 minutes per game
Kostas Antetokounmpo (3) -- hasn't played an NBA game ... maybe they thought they were voting for his brother?
Ryan Anderson (3) -- played in 15 games this season
In addition to those semi-household names, the following players also received multiple votes from their peers.

Amile Jefferson
Maxi Kleber
Tony Bradley
Sam Dekker
Chandler Hutchison
Ike Anigbogu
Jonah Bolden
Rodions Kurucs
PJ Dozier
Ron Baker
Antonio Blakeney
Jerian Grant
Troy Caupain
Deonte Burton
And finally, here are a few lucky guys who received exactly one vote from fellow players:

Wes Iwundu
Lance Thomas
Mitchell Robinson
Cristiano Felicio
Chris Boucher
Jordan McRae
Walter Lemon
Markelle Fultz
Johnathan Motley
Ben Moore
Wenyen Gabriel
Jonathan Williams
Jared Terrell
Jawun Evans
Wade Baldwin
Jacob Evans

They play in the NBA though. Everything all of them say is gospel. Fans couldn’t possibly know more or be more objective.

Every NBA player that ever lived has a better opinion than every fan that ever lived! All of them!!!!!!!!!!!! They actually played in the NBA you nerd!!!!!! Who are you?????!

Are you a LAKERS fan or a Kobe fan?

You want 48 wins or 26 wins?

I still can't believe how much attention is given to a literally meaningless exhibition game, one pretty much everyone agrees is of terrible quality now anyways

Y'all make so many threads and posts discussing it, then the day after it's over none of you even give it a second thought :lol

They should take away the vote that the players get if they aren't going to take it seriously. There are some G league that are getting votes.

It's relevant because everyone uses all star appearances as a factor when judging a player's case for HOF.

A lot of players are all-star level without the recognition.

and new contracts, and bonuses, etc. Having "All Star" on your resume means something in the NBA.

:lol My thoughts exactly.

So much for player voting

Why? The first few are the ones that count... and it's not bad at all. it it's a vote then it's a popularity contest either way. It's the all STAR game. Not the all BEST game.

You are out of your mind.
Lillard chucks more, is less efficient finishing around the basket, shoots too many threes on worse percentage, less assisted rate on higher usage, worse defense... and that is without the intangibles and eye test. Both players and fans agree:confusedshrug:
