looking back at it... would that have been the anthony davis bail out plan?
this was obviously in the works long ago and lebron knew he would be shipping out the entire lakers young core and just wanted a test run first to see if he could win mvp
now that the league mvp is out of reach he's going all in on plan B with AD
would davis have demanded a trade sooner at his agents request had lebron cracked/quit a week into the season?

called in favors can only take you so far. you still need magic to pull the trigger. lebron did his part ( which i predicted ) ... and now magic will **** it up like all the other opportunities hes had ( as i predicted )
either they'll miss out or give up too much

do you mean the same way they gave too much to Kobe in crippling the Lakers? seems the right move per Laker mgmt :confusedshrug: :D

kobe actually took a 10 million dollar pay cut. coulda made 35 mill and took 25 to leave room for another max free agent down the line
they instead used the money to sign jordan hill, chris kaman, nick young and wesley johnson then pocketed the rest
then a year later they took on jeremy lins 8 million
claimed carlos boozers contract off waivers
and a year after that they took on roy hibberts 19 million and lou williams 7 million
so they had money to spend. they just didn't spend it wisely

all that spin to get to the point with the bold...had they spent it wisely in not giving Kobe that deal, they likely have a more competent team rather than a laughing stock of the league during his last years.

so you're saying a max free agent would have signed with the lakers from 2013-14-15 had kobe not been there?
who exactly
and them with a bunch of rookies does what exactly?
because even after kobe left nobody signed in 2016 or 2017
it took lebron chasing movie roles in order for him to sign. and nobody else wanted to join him till this recent anthony davis request
prior to that the only guys willing to play with lebron were psychopaths like lance/rondo/mcgee

I think ultimately Magic wasn't super high on certain Laker young guys. As much as Lebron has a say so Pelinka and Magic aren't going to be submissive to him.
