OH BOY, haters gonna hate BIG TIME after this. I just heard on the Michael Kay Show that the most likely scenario is that BOTH Durant and Kyrie are coming to the Knicks.

Just imagine trading Porzingis gets use the ability to get BOTH Durant and Kyrie+DSJ+TWO 1st round draft picks.

ALL THIS for a 7'3 often injured big man.

I don't like this one bit. They traded away a young superstar for a potential signing of KD and Irving. We're 5 months away..

KD and Kyrie would be a dynasty

2 guys that can play optimally as elite on-ball and off-ball players

Everyone fits great next to them and they could generate a premium brand of ball with their offensively versatility

Love it. Hope it happens. The Knicks would be on top again

Don't like what? He wasn't with the rebuilding process and he was the product we would have shown players to. He was with us for how long and did exactly what for us? Hes injury prone and has a big head. He wasn't with it so early on its best to get rid of him. Don't forget his injuries are unpredictable here on out. Who knows what his recovery is. If knicks land two superstars they won this. They can get two, plus the two first rounders AND a top pick, DSJ, it's honestly a good move. Better now than have him walk. We have the cap space.

Don't forget adding in the 2019 draft pick (possibly Zion) Knox, DSJ, Robinson

that actually doesnt even sound like a good pairing... teamwork will be eh.. talent great but they will be beat by teams that have similar talent but better ball movement and chemistry.

What are you talking about?

Teamwork and chemistry will be just fine. This isn't KD circa 2013 and Kyrie circa 2015. Both guys are much more mature players these days.

This is a stupid thread and a stupid idea.

KD isn't going to the Knicks unless James Dolan sells the team between now and July.

Stop making these threads. Knicks are easy pickings right now. Start hyping them up if they win the draft

KD had the dubs playing iso ball in last years playoffs... i know he can play off ball and fit a system, but its his natural inclination to freestyle and iso. Obviously kyrie's is too. Hed be a damn fool to leave bostons stacked squad who already has the teamwork, talent and coaching to build a dynasty.

Durant is a highly assisted player that plays well off teammates in many ways (not just screen-roll)

And Kyrie's assisted rate is 38% - that's much higher than the typical PG (Wall, Westbrook, lillard) of 25%... It's not curry-like (55%), but it shows that he has a lot more wrinkles in his game than the typical ball-pounder.. his celtics are currently 5th in assists

But tbh, the worst players for ball movement are the players whose ball-domination is abnormal for their position - that would be lebron-ball and harden-ball, who not coincidentally field low assist teams

i.e. if lebron joined the warriors and they started playing Lebron/Harden-ball, they wouldn't be nearly as dominant - they might still win a ring or 2 because of the talent, but not a dominant 3-peat or the kind of prohibitive favorite they are now

KD was playing ISO ball because that what your supposed to do against teams that switches everything (take advantage of the individual matchups). He has always been an elite off-ball player and Kyrie has really developed into a steady PG since coming to Boston.

Both guys would be fine playing together.

A pg can't do that, otherwise every PG in the league does that

Only players that have abnormal ball-dominance for their position do that

At no point has KD been a low assisted, iso player, ala harden-ball/lebron-ball

So the iso idea was a surface-level take, and false

A few obvious isos doesn't make Durant an "iso" player - half his fg's are assisted... :confusedshrug:

The thunder were one of the biggest iso ball teams ever when they made the finals with a 30th team assist rank. And never even cracked inside the top 10 with all that talent over all their years together. Thats what youll get from durant with an average coach and mediocre culture. He doesnt ignite team play on his own which is why he team hopped to chef's creation to get an easy win.

i like both these guys a lot as players but nope i dont agree with your take. knicks have one of the worst cultures in the league and i wouldnt fear that team at all if i was to be rooting against them. Theyd be an iso ball squad. i love watching kyrie but he is an iso player naturally. Boston and Brad are pulling some team out of him, but he will revert back to his natural instincts just like durant in a situation with no one to reign him in.
