Bird got close with 41/13 and 7 assists.

Magic got close in game 7 of the finals with 42/15 and 7 assists when he played center after Kareem got hurt.

Cooled off this quarter but still on pace for 40. Game's still close so let's see what he does in the 4th, I'm sure he'll come through in the clutch

Black balled due to racism and kept out of All star game.

Cuban traded most of the starting lineup due to racism.

Lol man, Luka has that MJ mentality.

Don't want to piss this guy off.

He thrives off adversity. A true winner. I told people he was going to go crazy to avenge the All Star snub.

so mavs got luka and porzingis..if the unicorn can stay healthy, that's the makings of a contender. what pieces would they need to dethrone warriors? i'm guessing an elite defender and maybe some help with rebounding...can't believe the west got more stacked.

Marc Gasol for Harrison Barnes and picks.

Maybe give it a go at Klay Thompson.

Honestly, they don't need a big man that much with Porzingis being a very good rim protector and Luka being a very good rebounder.

so with a couple years of development (still can't believe luka is this good @19), they're essentially short of some 3pt shooters from being a championship contender? gotta give it to cuban, 2011 run and now they're close to being a contender again.

Mavs have some underrated role players like Maxi / DFS / Brunson. They will surprise a lot of people next year if this team gets built properly.

3/D wings and a quality guard that can defend would be ideal.

Jrue Holiday, for example, would be close to perfect.

Covington would also be amazing.

I really like Brunson, Kleber, and Powell; they're keepers.

DFS matters more than Powell.

Powell is fine, but he costs a bit too much to keep. I'm hoping we either trade him or he opts out this summer.

DFS played here in Gainesville; inconsistent, but clearly had an impact.

Can defend and hustles.

Shooting the three fairly well, too.

Yep.

He'll be cheap and he's proven he can improve the 3.

He could be really important on a contending team getting 15 to 20 minutes a game imo going forward.

I really hope we keep him.

That is what the Mavs could really have going for them...Brunson / Maxi / DFS could account for maybe like 10 million a year together and be worth like 4 times that in on court value.

So if they could somehow turn Harrison Barnes into a player actually worth 25 million a year...honestly the sky is the limit for this roster even next year if Kristaps is healthy.

I've been really surprised with Maxi's toughness; he guards well in the post and isn't afraid to mix it up and bang.

We already know he can shoot, but his defense has surprised me a lot.

And surprisingly athletic.

DFS and Maxi are essentially in the same position. If they could shoot 36% plus from 3...they'd be worth a lot of money.

My hope is that we sign them both to team friendly deals this summer and they get there next year.

A guy I think would be nice to get would be Tyus Jones. Not sure if Minny really wants him or not and he might go cheap. I'd actually be totally cool with Jones / Brunson running point for us.

Find a 3/D wing at small forward and it is a damn good squad.

Dethrone the Warriors? Mavs are still a ways from being a contender. Gotta give Luka and Porz a few years + finding good depth.

They have 2 potential franchise players...Luka obviously and not putting KP in there yet until we see how he comes back from that ACL but if he comes back just fine then we can call him a franchise player.

But other then that they don't have much.

Give the Mavs at least 2-3 more years before we talk about them possibly being a contender.

That is a myth.

Magic repped LA for the opening tip off, but that's about it. He played the majority of the game as a guard/forward combo

What would you think about this trade?

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9pj2gtt

With a top 10 protected pick going to the Mavs starting this year and rolling over until it conveys.
